Aladdin

Aladdin

The game from Virgin based on the 1992 animated Disney film is a side-scrolling platformer. The player controls Aladdin, who must make his way through several levels based on locations from the movie: from the streets and rooftops of Agrabah, the Cave of Wonders and the Sultan's dungeon to the final confrontation in Grand Vizier Jafar's palace. The Sultan's guards and also animals of the desert want to hinder Aladdin in his way. He can defend himself with his sword or by throwing apples. Next to apples, Aladdin can also collect gems which can be traded for lives and continues with a traveling trader. Finding Genie or Abu icons enables bonus rounds. The Genie bonus round is a game of luck played for apples, gems or extra lives. In Abu's bonus round, the player controls the little monkey who has to catch bonus items that fall from the sky, but without touching any of the unwanted objects like rocks and pots. The game's humorous animations were created by Walt Disney Feature Animation.

Sonic & Knuckles + Sonic The Hedgehog 3

Sonic & Knuckles + Sonic The Hedgehog 3

Sonic & Knuckles + Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is the complete 1994 Sega Genesis/Mega Drive version of Sonic 3 & Knuckles, formed by connecting the Sonic the Hedgehog 3 cartridge to the top of Sonic & Knuckles. Sega’s unusual Lock-On Technology turns the two releases into one extended 16-bit platform adventure, linking their stories, stages, save data, and character options. It begins with Sonic and Tails arriving on Angel Island in pursuit of Dr. Robotnik, then continues beyond the events of Sonic 3 as the crashed Death Egg becomes the center of a battle for the Master Emerald. The game follows the series’ fast side-scrolling format: players run, jump, roll into enemies, collect Rings for protection, and search for alternate routes through large multi-act Zones. Momentum matters on slopes, loops, elevators, water sections, and moving machinery, while item boxes can provide shields, invincibility, extra lives, or other temporary help. Checkpoints offer access to bonus stages when enough Rings are held, and hidden giant rings lead to the Blue Sphere-style Special Stages used to earn Chaos Emeralds. Locking the cartridges together makes this more than a simple back-to-back playlist. Sonic 3’s Angel Island, Hydrocity, Marble Garden, Carnival Night, IceCap, Launch Base, and related areas flow into Sonic & Knuckles stages including Mushroom Hill, Flying Battery, Sandopolis, Lava Reef, Hidden Palace, Sky Sanctuary, Death Egg, and the final Doomsday confrontation. Cutscenes carry the action between Zones, giving the connected campaign a continuous journey across Angel Island instead of stopping at the earlier game’s ending. The combined Genesis/Mega Drive game also expands the playable cast. Sonic remains the speedy all-round hero, and Sonic and Tails can be selected together, with a second player able to guide Tails during cooperative play. Tails can fly for a limited time and carry Sonic to otherwise difficult routes. Knuckles becomes playable throughout the Sonic 3 stages as well as his own campaign; his gliding and wall-climbing open routes designed around his movement, and his story leads to a different late-game path. Players can also choose Sonic alone or Tails alone, while the inherited Competition mode offers split-screen races and matches for two players. Sonic 3 & Knuckles gives the emerald hunt its fullest original cartridge form. After gathering the seven Chaos Emeralds in the Sonic 3 half, the adventure introduces Super Emeralds through the later stages. Completing that further set of Special Stages unlocks character-specific powered-up forms: Hyper Sonic, Hyper Knuckles, and Super Tails. Those transformations reward thorough exploration and make the lock-on version distinct from playing either cartridge on its own, alongside the ability to save progress through the expanded adventure. Sonic & Knuckles + Sonic the Hedgehog 3 reflects a distinctive moment in the Genesis era, when Sega used a physical cartridge design to finish a game that had been released in two parts. Sonic & Knuckles could also connect with Sonic the Hedgehog 2 for a Knuckles variation and with other compatible cartridges for Blue Sphere content, but Sonic 3 is the combination that delivers the intended full story. Later collections and modern releases have preserved the game under the Sonic 3 & Knuckles name, yet the original Genesis/Mega Drive lock-on setup remains the defining version of this ambitious Sonic platformer.
