About
Frogger for Genesis/Mega Drive is a 1998 adaptation of Konami's 1981 arcade game, developed by Morning Star Multimedia and published by Majesco. It keeps the original challenge: guide frogs from the bottom of the screen to the safety of five homes at the top.
Each trip begins at a busy multi-lane road. The frog hops in four directions, threading between cars, trucks, and other traffic without being struck.
Beyond the road, the route continues across a river where the water is fatal. Logs, turtles, and alligators provide moving footholds, but they can carry the frog toward the edge of the screen; diving turtles, snakes, otters, and an alligator's open mouth add further danger.
A frog that reaches an open home is safe, and the player must fill all five homes to clear the round. Homes can contain a fly for a bonus, while an occupied or dangerous home is another hazard to avoid.
A countdown timer limits every crossing, and losing a frog costs a life. Points are earned for forward movement and for reaching home, with additional bonuses available for unused time and special targets.
Frogger supports one player or two players taking alternating turns. As rounds progress, traffic and river patterns become more demanding, turning its simple upward journey into a precise test of timing and route selection.
