About

Destroy All Humans! for PlayStation 2 is a 2005 action-adventure game developed by Pandemic Studios and published by THQ. This original entry in the series casts the player as Cryptosporidium 137, or Crypto, a Furon operative sent to a stylized 1959 United States. Its premise turns the period's flying-saucer films, Cold War anxieties, suburban imagery, and alien-invasion fiction into a science-fiction comedy in which the invading alien is the hero.

Crypto arrives after contact with his predecessor, Cryptosporidium 136, is lost. Guided by the holographic Orthopox 13, he investigates Earth while pursuing Furon genetic material said to survive in human brain stems. The campaign moves through distinct American locations, beginning with Turnipseed Farm and continuing through small towns, a coastal suburb, Area 42, an industrial city, and the capital. Briefings, character exchanges, and the increasingly organized resistance give the missions a continuing story rather than treating each map as an isolated battle.

On foot, Destroy All Humans! PS2 combines third-person shooting with psychic powers and disguise-based infiltration. Crypto can scan thoughts for information and concentration, use telekinesis to lift and throw people or objects, and assume a human HoloBob disguise to move among civilians. His Furon equipment includes the electrical Zap-O-Matic, the Disintegrator Ray, and explosive weaponry, while a jetpack helps him reach rooftops and cross gaps. Missions set objectives such as gathering intelligence, protecting a disguise, sabotaging targets, abducting people, or fighting soldiers, but the broad maps also leave room to explore and cause unscripted damage.

Crypto's flying saucer supplies a second style of play. From the Furon mothership hub, players can revisit unlocked destinations, take assignments, spend collected DNA on upgrades, and launch the saucer for large-scale attacks. The craft's weapons and tractor-style Abducto Beam can target people, vehicles, and structures, making aerial encounters a contrast to the on-foot missions. Civilian panic and escalating police, military, and Majestic responses reinforce the game's tongue-in-cheek invasion fantasy, while the period-flavored dialogue and visual design keep the action rooted in its 1950s parody.

The PlayStation 2 version is a single-player release from the original 2005 generation, issued alongside the Xbox edition and before later ports, sequels, and the 2020 remake. It established the series' recurring combination of alien technology, destructive sandbox action, and satire of mid-century American culture. For players looking for the first Destroy All Humans! adventure rather than its modern remake, this PS2 game is the beginning of Crypto and Pox's campaign against Earth.
