About

Uta no Prince-sama: Amazing Aria for PSP is a Japanese otome adventure game from Broccoli, developed by Nippon Ichi Software and released in Japan on December 23, 2010. It is a follow-up to the original Uta no Prince-sama and returns to the music-focused world of Saotome Academy. The player takes the role of aspiring composer Haruka Nanami, whose name can also be changed, as she works with a prospective idol partner. The game combines romantic visual-novel storytelling with musical challenges in a single-player PSP format.

Amazing Aria begins around the graduation audition introduced at Saotome Academy in the preceding game. Haruka must prepare music with her partner while navigating the pressures that come with an important performance and a relationship that the school rules make complicated. Rather than retelling every route from the first game, this installment focuses on a particular group of performers and presents a new chapter in the academy setting. Its story is built around conversations, events, and choices that shape Haruka's path toward an ending.

At the start, players select one of four partners: Otoya Ittoki, Masato Hijirikawa, Natsuki Shinomiya, or Cecil Aijima. Each choice opens a different character route, so returning to the game and making different decisions is central to seeing its scenarios. The four routes are arranged in chapters and use affection gained during the adventure portions to direct the outcome. Completing the four principal character routes also unlocks an additional route involving Shining Saotome.

The text-led adventure segments are joined by music minigames that turn the composition theme into hands-on PSP play. In Rhythm Lesson, players listen to an example and press the indicated button inputs in time. Performance Exam expands that idea into a song-based challenge practiced across several in-game months, with the difficulty increasing as the exam approaches. These interludes sit alongside the choice-driven scenes, making both relationship progress and musical preparation part of the game loop.

Broccoli marketed Amazing Aria as an encore of music stronger than a kiss, a phrase that captures its blend of romance and idol-production drama. Chisato Kurahana provided the original character designs, Elements Garden handled music production, and the game's theme song, “Amazing Love,” is performed by the voices of Otoya, Masato, and Natsuki. The PSP release was issued in standard, limited, and Welcome Set editions in Japan; the limited edition added an Amazing Book and Amazing Disc.

Amazing Aria is paired in the broader Uta no Prince-sama release history with the companion fan disc Sweet Serenade, though the two PSP games center on different selectable partners. Broccoli later brought both works together as Uta no Prince-sama: Amazing Aria & Sweet Serenade LOVE for PlayStation Vita, where the combined release added material and refreshed character visuals. The original PSP version remains the version devoted to Haruka's routes with Otoya, Masato, Natsuki, and Cecil, and it marks an early expansion of the franchise's school, romance, and music-game formula.
