About

Capcom Classics Collection Reloaded for PSP is Capcom’s 2006 portable anthology of 19 older games, issued in North America on October 24 and released in Japan as Capcom Classics Collection. It brings arcade shooters, run-and-gun action, platform adventures, beat-'em-ups, and the three early Street Fighter II versions to one UMD. Rather than presenting one new adventure, Reloaded is a menu-driven collection built around distinct games from different periods of Capcom’s arcade history, with a Super NES version of Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts included alongside the arcade selections.

The lineup moves from the vertical shooting of 1942, 1943: The Battle of Midway, 1943 Kai, Exed Exes, and Vulgus to the ground combat of Commando, Mercs, Gun.Smoke, and SonSon. Eco Fighters adds its environmental science-fiction shooter premise, while Pirate Ship Higemaru centers on its own more compact arcade challenge. Each title retains its original genre and structure, so objectives range from surviving enemy waves and clearing stages to rescuing captives, advancing through scrolling action, or outlasting an opponent in a one-on-one fight.

Reloaded also groups together several of Capcom’s best-known fantasy action games. Ghosts 'n Goblins, Ghouls 'n Ghosts, and Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts follow armored knight Arthur through demanding monster-filled stages, while Knights of the Round and The King of Dragons offer medieval-themed side-scrolling brawling with selectable heroes. The Street Fighter II portion includes The World Warrior, Champion Edition, and Turbo: Hyper Fighting, letting players see how the series evolved from its original international tournament format through selectable bosses and quicker combat.

Designed around the PlayStation Portable, Capcom Classics Collection Reloaded provides adjustable controls and screen settings for its varied arcade-era games. Save data supports ongoing progress and high scores, making the collection more practical for short portable sessions than an original coin-operated cabinet. Completing goals and building scores earns credits for a themed slot machine, which unlocks extras such as historical material, gameplay tips, original artwork, and secret codes. Those unlockables make the collection interface a hub for more than simply choosing a game.

Selected games support PSP wireless ad hoc multiplayer, and the release also uses game-sharing features so eligible games can be played with other nearby PSP systems from a single copy. That social option suits the competitive and cooperative titles particularly well, whether players are trading blows in Street Fighter II or tackling arcade action together. Reloaded followed the earlier PSP compilation Capcom Classics Collection Remixed, but it has its own roster, emphasizing titles such as Eco Fighters, Knights of the Round, The King of Dragons, Commando, and the Ghosts 'n Goblins games.

For players exploring Capcom’s pre-3D catalogue, Capcom Classics Collection Reloaded offers a broad cross-section rather than a single series retrospective. Its games span early fixed and scrolling shooters, character-action platformers, fantasy brawlers, and tournament fighting, revealing how different arcade design traditions can coexist in one PSP package. The compilation’s combination of playable history, configurable presentation, unlockable archival extras, and local wireless options gives its 19 games a shared portable framework while leaving their original identities intact.
