About

Wonder Pets!: Save the Animals! is a Nintendo DS game based on Nickelodeon's preschool series. Released in North America in 2008, it was developed by Black Lantern Studios and published by Take-Two Interactive under the 2K Play label. The handheld adaptation puts the show's classroom-pet heroes—Linny the guinea pig, Ming-Ming the duckling, and Tuck the turtle—at the center of three animal-rescue adventures.

Each story sends the trio to a different setting in response to an animal's problem. Players help a baby panda in China, aid a Bengal tiger in India, and work to bring a chimpanzee stranded in space back home. The structure follows the cooperative spirit of the television series: the three characters travel together, face a sequence of obstacles, and rely on the player's help to carry out their rescues.

The adventures are built from short touch-screen activities rather than a single long action challenge. Tasks include placing pieces into a picture, turning a stylus-operated wheel to open a route, searching dark scenes for needed objects, and using the DS microphone for a movement-based activity. These small puzzles ask players to follow instructions, recognize shapes and objects, and use the system's touch controls in different ways as the rescues progress.

The game also includes lighter schoolhouse activities outside the main missions. Players can dress up the Wonder Pets, trace letters on blocks to form words, and make or follow simple musical patterns on an on-screen keyboard. Completing story activities opens a postcard collection, giving the game a gentle reward structure tied to the team's adventures and costumes.

Linny, Ming-Ming, and Tuck retain their familiar roles as a determined team, with the game framed around helping animals in trouble rather than competing against opponents. Its simple goals, frequent narration, and activity-by-activity pacing place it firmly in the early-childhood edutainment style, making it a companion piece for young viewers of the animated show.

Save the Animals! was made specifically for the Nintendo DS and uses features associated with that version, including stylus input and microphone use. Its three rescue scenarios and replayable activity format turn the show's musical animal-saving premise into a compact interactive outing for the handheld.
