About

Doraemon: Nobita no Shin Makai Daibouken DS is a Nintendo DS card battle RPG released in Japan by Sega on March 8, 2007. Built around the magical setting of the 2007 Doraemon film Doraemon: Nobita no Shin Makai Daibouken ~7-nin no Mahō Tsukai~, it turns Doraemon, Nobita, and their friends into the center of a strategic adventure. The game followed Sega's 2006 DS adaptation of Doraemon: Nobita's Dinosaur and carries forward that earlier card-battle foundation in a new fantasy setting of magic, monsters, and danger to the Earth.

Its story mode presents an adventure through the film-inspired world, with events and card battles advancing the journey. Rather than relying on an action platform format, progress comes from preparing for duels, winning encounters, and adding useful cards to a growing collection. Doraemon and Nobita are joined by familiar friends including Shizuka, Gian, and Suneo, who can be used as player characters. The magical-world premise gives the card sets an appropriate focus: monster cards and magic cards sit alongside character cards and Doraemon's gadget-themed cards.

Battles ask players to build a deck and spend their resources on cards that establish characters, monsters, and other effects. Monster and magic cards can be combined for different attacks, giving the game a tactical emphasis beyond simply choosing the strongest card available. Cards tied to the moon cycle add another wrinkle: as the moon changes during a match, reaching a full moon triggers a Full Moon Chance that strengthens the action on the field. This makes timing and deck choices part of the contest, while the card collection encourages experimentation with different combinations.

Doraemon: Nobita no Shin Makai Daibouken DS was designed to welcome younger players as well as card-game regulars. An Easy Mode makes the central battles more approachable, while the standard setting retains the fuller ruleset. Sega also expanded the selection of playable characters beyond Doraemon and Nobita, letting players take control of companions from the adventure. Story events can provide additional cards, so optional stops and victories can help broaden the options available for later duels.

For competition, the Nintendo DS release supported one- or two-player play through local DS Wireless Play and also included Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection support at launch. Players could take their decks into battles against other people and earn rare cards by winning. These multiplayer options suited a game whose appeal lies in assembling a personal set of cards and testing it against another player's strategy, while the single-player adventure supplied a route for unlocking content and learning its systems.

As a Doraemon game, this DS entry is closely connected to a particular era of the franchise's annual movie adaptations. It is not the 2007 animated film itself, but a Sega-developed game that recasts its magic-world atmosphere as a card battle RPG. For Nintendo DS players interested in Doraemon, Japanese card games, or a handheld adaptation that mixes recognizable characters with deck-building strategy, Doraemon: Nobita no Shin Makai Daibouken DS offers a distinctively themed take on the series.
