About

Pro Evolution Soccer 3 for PlayStation 2 is Konami Computer Entertainment Tokyo's 2003 association-football simulation, published by Konami. The European release carries the Pro Evolution Soccer 3 name, while related editions appeared as World Soccer: Winning Eleven 7 in Japan and World Soccer: Winning Eleven 7 International in North America. It is the third European entry in Konami's PES line and was built around playing full football matches with club and national sides rather than an arcade-style interpretation of the sport.

On the pitch, players direct one footballer at a time, moving into space to receive passes, building attacks, shooting at goal and defending through positioning and challenges. Match settings let players choose teams and adjust the conditions for an individual fixture, while the game also includes options for configuring the on-screen match presentation. Its PlayStation 2 football action emphasizes the relationship between player movement, passing and the ball, with animations and computer-controlled teammates shaping each phase of play.

Several modes offer different ways to play. Match Mode is suited to standalone fixtures, while League Mode and Cup Mode provide organised competitions. Master League turns the sport into a longer campaign: choose a side, play through a league structure and manage the squad across successive seasons and competitions. Training Mode supplies a place to practise, and the game also includes challenge-based exercises. The PS2 edition supports solo play as well as local multiplayer matches.

Editing is an important part of the package. PES 3 did not license complete leagues, so many clubs, badges, shirts and player names differ from their real-world counterparts. A small group of clubs is officially represented, including Milan, Roma, Juventus, Lazio, Parma and Feyenoord. The Edit Mode gives players tools to alter team names, flags, logos, kits and stadium details, making it possible to tailor the game’s line-ups and presentation to their own preferred football world.

The game also gives rewards for continued play through its Shop, where accumulated points can be exchanged for hidden items and extra content. Replay controls allow a completed passage of play to be reviewed from adjustable viewpoints, with the ability to move through the replay rather than simply watch it once. These features sit alongside standard match rules and competition play, giving the PS2 release both quick sessions and a more extended team-management route.

Pro Evolution Soccer 3 arrived during the PlayStation 2 era when Konami's Winning Eleven and Pro Evolution Soccer names identified regional branches of the same football series. It was followed by Pro Evolution Soccer 4 in 2004. For players exploring early-2000s console football games, the PS2 version captures an installment defined by its match play, editable unlicensed teams, competition modes and expanded Master League framework.
