About
The Ren & Stimpy Show: Veediots! is a single-player 2D action-platform game released for Super NES in October 1993. Gray Matter developed the SNES version and THQ published it. It adapts Nickelodeon’s Ren & Stimpy into a sequence of cartoon-like scenarios rather than one continuous story, with Ren Höek and Stimpy taking the spotlight in different episodes.
The game is built around four television-show-inspired chapters: “The Boy Who Cried Rat,” “In the Army,” “Stimpy’s Invention,” and “Marooned.” These self-contained segments send the pair through exaggerated settings associated with the series, including a house, an army base, Stimpy’s laboratory, and the insides of an alien. The episode framing gives each chapter its own short setup and changes which character the player controls.
Ren handles the opening material, where platforming is mixed with slapstick hazards and objects that can be picked up or used against obstacles. In the Boy Who Cried Rat sequence, he has to outmaneuver Stimpy and then survive the hazards inside Stimpy’s mouth. Later, Stimpy becomes the playable character for the laboratory-centered portion, where getting through the machinery depends more on manipulating the environment than simply reaching the next platform.
Both characters jump with either A or B, can grab objects by holding X, and attack with Y. Ren’s quick slap and Stimpy’s tongue attack suit the game’s close-range encounters, while the grab command is essential for carrying and placing useful items. The controls support the game’s mix of running, jumping, attacking, and object-based tasks; the adventure is one player at a time rather than a simultaneous co-op game.
The platforming challenges include pits, enemies, moving hazards, and timed stretches, but the game also asks players to use particular objects. Stimpy’s laboratory levels introduce springs, safes, switches, balls, colored liquids, and other tools that open routes or alter machinery. This gives that episode a puzzle-platform flavor, contrasting with the more direct action and avoidance in the earlier Ren stages.
Veediots! also reached Game Boy in 1993, but the SNES release is a distinct version rather than a handheld conversion with identical credits: Gray Matter is credited for the Super NES game, while GameFAQs lists Eastridge Technology for the Game Boy release. The SNES edition’s larger presentation preserves its four episode-based scenarios, character-specific moves, and a broad range of environmental gags drawn from the show.
