Returning to the present, Mario discovers he has appeared somewhere else in the Mushroom Kingdom. He is not familiar with the location, nor did he know a big mountain existed. He now he must find the time machine that will lead him to the fiend who destroys the entire Mushroom World. Aided by Princess Peach's minion Toads, Mario will collect information to find his way. Where is Princess Peach? Why isn't she helping Mario at all? Perhaps she's too busy doing something else instead of preventing the apocalypse…
