About
Wario No Mori - Futatabi is a Japanese Satellaview puzzle game, broadcast by Nintendo in 1997 for the Super Famicom satellite service. Its title means Wario's Woods Again, and it is a distinct broadcast revision of the Super NES game Wario's Woods rather than a new Wario adventure. The game returns to the Peaceful Woods, where Wario and his monsters have driven out its gentle inhabitants. Toad takes the lead, entering a fast-moving puzzle field to clear the invasion and ultimately confront Wario. For Satellaview players, it offered a Super Famicom take on Nintendo's unusual character-driven falling-block puzzle design.
The central objective is to remove every monster from a playfield before the stack rises too high. Colored monsters and matching bombs descend from above, but the player does not steer the pieces while they fall. Instead, Toad moves directly around the board once they land. He can pick up a single object, carry it to another position, shift accessible stacks, and kick an item across the field. That hands-on arrangement system gives Wario No Mori - Futatabi its own rhythm: success depends on making room for Toad, anticipating where new pieces will land, and reshaping a crowded board without boxing the character in.
Matches are formed by lining up at least three objects of one color horizontally, vertically, or diagonally, with a bomb included in the group. Monsters alone do not disappear, so each clear requires careful placement of a bomb among the right colors. Chain reactions can remove more pieces and help recover space, while the changing mix of creatures makes simple matches less reliable as play continues. The ceiling can also press downward, reducing the available field; if the stack reaches the top and traps Toad, the game ends. Clearing a board advances the player to a fresh challenge with more monsters to manage.
Like the broader Wario's Woods family, this version supports one- and two-player play. Its importance lies in how it adapts the Super Famicom edition for Nintendo's Japan-only Satellaview distribution service, which delivered downloadable broadcasts through the St.GIGA satellite network. Wario No Mori - Futatabi was broadcast from September 28, 1997 as an October monthly event game. It should not be confused with the 1995 Wario no Mori: Bakusho Version, which used caricatures of the comedy duo Bakusho Mondai, or with the earlier Satellaview event editions that tied puzzle performances to rankings and prize campaigns.
Futatabi keeps the familiar Wario's Woods cast and puzzle action closer to the standard Super NES presentation than the celebrity-themed broadcast, but it is not a straight duplicate. The Satellaview version replaces Birdo with Abata, the female player avatar from the BS-X Satellaview hub, and omits several features found in the full Super NES game, including the round-game-style single-player option, CPU opponent names, and Story Mode dialogue. Those changes make Wario No Mori - Futatabi a compact, platform-specific variation: a snapshot of Nintendo using its satellite service to recirculate and reshape an existing puzzle game for a Japanese broadcast audience.
