About

Tamori No Picross Satellaview is a Japan-only nonogram puzzle broadcast published by Nintendo for the Super Famicom’s Satellaview service in 1995. This June 13 edition belongs to the limited-time Tamori no Picross run, a series named for Japanese television personality Tamori. Rather than a conventional boxed Super Famicom release, it was received through Nintendo’s satellite-broadcast service, making the date attached to this version an important part of its identity.

The game uses the classic Picross format: each puzzle is a grid whose numbers describe consecutive groups of filled squares in its rows and columns. By comparing those clues, marking certain cells, and eliminating impossible positions, the player gradually exposes a pixel picture. A completed board is the reward for careful deduction, so progress depends on interpreting the number sequences rather than reflexes or chance.

Tamori No Picross is a single-player puzzle game built around individual boards rather than a narrative adventure. The controller moves a cursor across the grid, where the player records the squares believed to be part of the picture and uses marks to keep track of spaces that have been ruled out. The simple interface puts the emphasis on reading the clues and managing the board state, with each solution forming a small image from the completed pattern.

It occupies an unusual early place in Nintendo’s Picross history. The series began in 1995 with Mario’s Picross on Game Boy, while Tamori no Picross was distributed through Satellaview before Mario’s Super Picross arrived as a retail Super Famicom game later that year. Credits associated with the broadcast name Nintendo, Ape and Jupiter, the companies connected with this period of the franchise’s development.

The broadcast format distinguishes Tamori No Picross from later cartridge and digital Picross collections. Jupiter’s own product history describes the project as delivering a different puzzle by satellite each day and notes that it was promoted alongside Tamori’s talk show. For players interested in Satellaview’s short-lived Japanese catalogue, the June 13 transmission is both a straightforward logic-puzzle session and a record of how Nintendo used scheduled satellite delivery to present new game content.
