About
Lucky Luke: Desperado Train is a 2000 Game Boy Color action-platform game developed and published by Infogrames. Based on the long-running Western comic series, it casts the famously fast-drawing cowboy in a fresh cartridge-sized adventure.
Desperados have seized a freight train and turned its route into a trail of pillage and destruction. Lucky Luke must pursue it from the Atlantic coast toward the Pacific, catching the gang before the damage spreads across the frontier.
The journey unfolds across 12 side-view stages that combine platforming, shooting and light puzzle elements. Luke confronts armed enemies along the way, so quick reactions and careful movement are as important as reaching the exit.
Pickups provide ammunition, dynamite, money and other useful supplies. Friendly characters can also lend a hand during the chase, giving the adventure a little more of the comic strip's populated Old West than a simple run-and-gun pursuit.
The route visits varied Western backdrops, including a town, a circus and gold mines, while Lucky Luke's faithful companions Jolly Jumper and Rantanplan are part of the adventure. The shifting locations help make the stolen-train chase feel like a cross-country trek rather than a single repeated setting.
This is a single-player Game Boy Color release with password-based progress saving. Known in several European-language editions as Le Train des desperados, Banditen Express and other localized titles, it is specifically the 2000 GBC game rather than the earlier Lucky Luke conversion for the system.
