About
Pac-Man brings Namco's enduring maze chase to the NES. You guide the yellow hero through a single-screen labyrinth, clearing every pellet while searching for safe routes around four roaming ghosts. Each stage asks for quick decisions as the board becomes more dangerous and the chase grows faster.
The maze is built around a simple but demanding goal: eat every dot without being caught. Blinky, Pinky, Inky, and Clyde move with different patterns, so a path that works against one ghost can lead straight into another. Learning their positions, reading the intersections, and knowing when to reverse course give the game its lasting strategic pull.
Four flashing power pellets sit near the corners of the maze. Picking one up briefly turns the ghosts blue, letting Pac-Man chase them down for escalating point rewards before they return to the center and resume the pursuit. Fruit bonuses appearing below the ghost house add another scoring opportunity, tempting players to take risks during a crowded run.
Side tunnels provide a fast route from one edge of the maze to the other, but they are not always a guaranteed escape. Careful timing around the tunnels, power pellets, and the maze's narrow passages is essential when several ghosts close in at once. The NES controls keep the action focused on precise four-direction movement and split-second turns.
As levels advance, the ghosts move more aggressively and the safe window created by a power pellet becomes shorter. That steady rise in pressure turns a familiar board into a test of memory, timing, and composure. Losing a life sends Pac-Man back into the maze until the supply is exhausted.
Pac-Man is a compact arcade-style challenge built for repeat play, score chasing, and mastering a small set of rules that continually create new threats. Its colorful characters, recognizable sound effects, and pursuit-and-escape rhythm make every cleared maze feel like a narrowly earned victory.
