Crayon Shin-chan 3 : Ora no Gokigen Athletic

Crayon Shin-chan 3: Ora no Gokigen Athletic is a Game Boy game based on the Crayon Shin-chan series. Bandai developed and published it in Japan on March 26, 1994. It is the third numbered Game Boy entry in the series, but it takes the form of a minigame collection rather than the side-scrolling format used by the other numbered installments.

Shin-chan moves around a neighborhood map, visiting homes and other locations to enter athletic-themed events. The game opens with only a small selection of activities available; completing events makes further parts of the map accessible and leads toward the final course.

The individual games test different kinds of timing, movement, memory and observation. One event has two climbers fire water guns from opposite sides of a tree, while another asks the player to follow a swimsuit-clad contestant after a shuffle. A dog race turns jumps and strategically placed bones into a short race between rivals.

Other challenges include collecting numbered books in sequence, catching children in a pipe-filled park, steering Shin-chan while he mops a room, and racing bicycles across the map. The collection also includes a dance-copying game and a portrait-identification challenge that rewards quick recognition.

After the earlier events, Shin-chan tackles an obstacle course made up of running, hurdles, pole climbing and swimming. A bonus match against Kamen follows the standard ending; it plays as a two-sided ball game in which each player moves a paddle vertically to keep the ball in play.
