About

Uta no Prince Sama: All Star is a Japanese PSP romance adventure and visual novel released by Broccoli on March 7, 2013. Part of the Uta no Prince-sama series, it places the player in the role of aspiring composer Haruka Nanami after her time at Saotome Academy. The story is set at Shining Production, an entertainment agency filled with performers whose careers are tied closely to new songs, public appearances, and demanding professional goals. Broccoli published the game, with Nippon Ichi Software credited as its developer, while Elements Garden handled the music production.

All Star uses the series' familiar blend of reading-driven adventure scenes and music-focused minigames. Players name the heroine, choose a minigame difficulty, read conversations and narration, then select responses at important moments. Choices affect Haruka's relationship value with her partner, while the evaluation earned in each chapter's minigame contributes to a separate music value. Those two measures shape which ending the route reaches, making replaying chapters and trying different decisions central to seeing the game's outcomes.

Haruka begins this version of the story as a composer who needs to prove herself at Shining Production. The game presents its professional stakes through song assignments and an upcoming music festival, rather than treating the idol setting as background decoration. In the senior routes, she works with one of four established performers: Reiji Kotobuki, Ranmaru Kurosaki, Ai Mikaze, or Camus. Their group, QUARTET NIGHT, is an important part of the game's story and made its first game appearance here. The partnership format gives each route a distinct character focus while keeping composition and performance at the heart of the conflict.

The initial senior routes lead into further route groups as their completion requirements are met. Clearing a senior route unlocks the teacher routes, which center on Ringo Tsukimiya and Ryuya Hyuga. Completing the available senior and teacher routes opens the Rainbow route, which brings the seven idols associated with Haruka's academy days into the narrative: Otoya Ittoki, Masato Hijirikawa, Natsuki Shinomiya, Tokiya Ichinose, Ren Jinguji, Syo Kurusu, and Cecil Aijima. This structure encourages players to revisit the story from several partner perspectives instead of following one fixed romance.

The PSP format is especially suited to All Star's combination of illustrated scenes, voiced dialogue, menu-based choices, and short musical challenges. The adventure sections let the player move through chapters at their own pace, and completed chapters can be selected again for another attempt at a preferred ending. Between those scenes, the minigames turn the heroine's role as a composer into a gameplay requirement: results do more than provide a side diversion, because they influence the music value used by the route. The game also includes combination voice features alongside its large cast of voice actors.

Although it follows earlier Uta no Prince-sama games, All Star presents a different situation for Haruka from the school-era premise that introduced the franchise. Its Shining Production setting and the pressure to establish a career give the romance routes a workplace and performance-industry frame. The game includes 13 idols from earlier series entries, while its senior routes introduce the four members of QUARTET NIGHT as romantic partners. That expansion made All Star a key entry for players interested in the group as well as in the continuing story of Haruka's work as a songwriter.

Uta no Prince Sama: All Star was released only for PSP in its original 2013 form, with standard and limited editions available in Japan. The Super Shining Smile Box included a bonus drama CD and booklet in addition to the game. It arrived during a period when the Uta no Prince-sama property was growing beyond its original handheld adventures through music releases and animation, but the game remains rooted in the interactive formula that built the series: select a partner, guide Haruka through personal and professional decisions, succeed in the music segments, and pursue one of the route-specific conclusions.
