About

Naruto Shippuden: Narutimate Accel 3 for PSP is a ninja fighting game developed by CyberConnect2 and published by Bandai Namco Games in Japan on December 10, 2009. It is the Japanese release of the game later issued in North America as Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Heroes 3. Built around the Naruto Shippuden anime and manga setting, it brings the series’ character-driven battles to Sony’s portable system while retaining the side-on combat style associated with the earlier Ultimate Ninja games.

Matches center on rapid one-on-one encounters in which players move, jump, guard, attack, throw projectiles, manage chakra, and time substitutions to escape an opponent’s blow. Chakra supports special techniques and movement options, while each character’s jutsu and secret techniques give the roster distinct ways to pressure an opponent or turn a round around. Practice and Free Battle provide places to learn the systems and set up individual fights outside the story campaign.

The game has more than 50 playable characters drawn largely from the Shippuden era, including Naruto, Sakura, Kakashi, Sasuke, members of Akatsuki, and characters associated with Kakashi Chronicles such as young Kakashi and Obito. Its story material follows Naruto after his return to the Hidden Leaf Village and covers events from the early Shippuden narrative through the Hidan and Kakuzu storyline. A separate Sasuke-focused path complements Naruto’s campaign, and the game also includes an original story thread created for this release.

Master Road organizes story content as a branching route of missions rather than a single uninterrupted sequence. Players can take on standard battles, timed fights, and side-scrolling action stages that ask them to defeat enemies or reach a goal before time expires. Completing missions earns Ninja Points, which can be spent on items such as tactics, collectibles, and additional ninjutsu moves. Tactics are selected before a mission and provide one chosen enhancement, encouraging players to consider the demands of the next challenge.

Narutimate Accel 3 also expands the portable series’ social play. Wireless Ad Hoc features support cooperative missions with up to two friends, while certain free-for-all battles accommodate four players. Players can form teams for powerful combined jutsu, so a contest need not be limited to a simple duel. The game’s options, Collection Mode, training, unlockable characters, and mission replay value give its PSP format a mix of story progression and quick competitive sessions.

Released as a PSP-exclusive entry during Naruto’s tenth-anniversary period in Japan, Naruto Shippuden: Narutimate Accel 3 sits at the end of the Accel line and became the final western release under the Ultimate Ninja Heroes name. Its regional naming is important: Narutimate Accel 3 is the Japanese title, while Ultimate Ninja Heroes 3 identifies the localized version. For players interested in the classic, 2D-based Ultimate Ninja approach on PSP, it captures a broad Shippuden cast, anime-inspired techniques, and both solo and local wireless play.
