About
LEGO Harry Potter: Years 5-7 PSP is a 2011 action-adventure game that brings the latter half of the Harry Potter saga to Sony's PlayStation Portable. Developed within the TT Games family and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, it follows 2010's LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4. The game adapts the final three novels and four films—Order of the Phoenix, Half-Blood Prince, and both Deathly Hallows chapters—recasting their escalating conflict in the wordless visual comedy and brick-built style associated with the LEGO games.
The adventure follows Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger, and a large supporting cast as their school years give way to open resistance against Lord Voldemort. Its story travels from Privet Drive and Diagon Alley to Hogwarts, Hogsmeade, Grimmauld Place, the Ministry of Magic, and Godric's Hollow, before building toward the final confrontation. Familiar dramatic scenes are conveyed through pantomime cutscenes, so character animation and slapstick replace spoken dialogue while preserving the broad progression of the source material.
At its center, the PSP game uses the series' accessible action-puzzle formula. Players smash scenery into LEGO studs, rebuild useful objects, search rooms for secrets, and use magic to alter the environment. Different witches and wizards bring different abilities, making character choice important when revisiting areas or looking for hidden rewards. Spellcasting, duelling, potion-related activities, and environmental puzzles turn each level into a mix of exploration, combat, and cooperation between characters rather than a straight action game.
Collecting is a major part of the journey. Studs serve as the currency for purchases, while character tokens unlock additional playable figures. Levels also hide house-crest pieces, Red Bricks that enable optional extras after purchase, students in peril, and Gold Bricks tied to challenges and completion. Replaying finished stages and moving between the principal hub locations lets players return with new abilities and pursue material that was unavailable on a first visit, giving the portable campaign objectives beyond simply reaching the end of the story.
Years 5-7 arrived in North America on November 11, 2011, only months after the theatrical conclusion of the film series with Deathly Hallows – Part 2. It launched across several home and handheld systems, so this PSP release belongs to a wider version family rather than the later PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch LEGO Harry Potter Collection. The PSP edition is specifically the original handheld release of the sequel: a compact way to play the second half of the two-game LEGO Harry Potter adaptation, not a remake or the earlier Years 1-4 adventure.
The sequel's setting marks a deliberate change from the first game's earlier school years. The Wizarding World becomes more dangerous as Voldemort's influence expands, yet the game continually answers its darker source material with playful LEGO reinterpretations. That balance, together with a roster of magical characters, destructible scenes, spell-based puzzles, repeatable levels, and completion-focused collectibles, defines LEGO Harry Potter: Years 5-7 on PSP as a portable entry in TT Games' long-running licensed LEGO action-adventure series.
