About

Blood+ Final Piece for PSP is a Japanese animation-adventure game based on the Blood+ television series. Sony Computer Entertainment released it in Japan on September 7, 2006, under the title BLOOD+ ~Final Piece~, for the PlayStation Portable. Designed around the series' animated presentation, it brings Blood+'s world to Sony's handheld during the show's original 2005–2006 run. The game was released for one player and carries the Japanese CERO B age rating.

Rather than retelling a single television episode, Final Piece is arranged as four original chapters that follow the flow of the TV anime. The game mixes footage adapted for the PSP's widescreen display with newly produced animation, presenting a companion story intended to fill in mysteries around the wider Blood+ setting. Its narrative focus makes it a distinctly different kind of tie-in from the contemporary PlayStation 2 Blood+ games: this is an adventure built to let players follow scenes, conversations, and dramatic turns on a portable system.

The player experiences the story through illustrated and animated sequences, responding to situations with choices and timed button inputs. Those moments can alter how scenes play out, while a missed response can lead to a game over. This structure places the emphasis on reading a situation and reacting at key moments instead of free-roaming exploration. The format also encourages revisiting the four chapters to see material that may not appear on an initial route.

Saya Otonashi and Haji head a returning cast drawn from the anime, with 19 principal characters using the same voice actors as the television production. Final Piece also introduces eight characters created specifically for the game, with designs by Chizu Hashii. The mixture of familiar characters and game-original additions lets the PSP release tell new material without simply duplicating the anime's existing scenes. Three-dimensional sound is used to give its voices, music, and effects a more spatial presentation through the handheld.

Beyond the main adventure, Blood+ Final Piece includes a gallery for revisiting notable scenes, sub-scenarios that examine the setting from other angles, and a database of character information. An alarm mode uses recorded lines from the anime to turn the PSP into a character-voice alarm clock. These extras make the 2006 release a compact Blood+ companion for fans of the series as well as a story-led PSP adventure, preserving both television footage and animation produced for this particular game.
