About

FIFA Soccer 10 for PSP brings EA Sports’ long-running football series to Sony’s handheld in a 2009 edition built by HB Studios Multimedia and published by Electronic Arts. Released in North America as FIFA Soccer 10, it was known simply as FIFA 10 in Europe and Australia, while Japanese releases used the titles FIFA 10: World Class Soccer and FIFA 10: World Soccer. It is a portable association-football simulation centered on licensed clubs, leagues, national sides, and the familiar contest of turning possession into goals.

Matches are played from a broadcast-style sideline view, with the PSP’s analogue nub and face buttons used to move players, pass, shoot, cross, tackle, and make goalkeeper decisions. A player must read the space ahead, select a teammate, and decide whether to build through short passes, drive down the wing, or attempt a direct ball toward goal. Defensive play asks for careful positioning and timing rather than simply chasing the ball, since an ill-timed challenge can open a route for an opponent. The handheld format makes it well suited to a quick exhibition as well as longer sessions.

FIFA Soccer 10 on PSP offers the season’s football setting through a wide pool of clubs and international teams, letting players choose recognizable sides or lead a preferred team through competition. Its presentation uses the series’ licensed-game framework to place matches in league, cup, and international contexts. Regional packaging reflected the worldwide character of FIFA: the North American release used the FIFA Soccer name, while other markets used alternate titles, but each represents the same 2009 PSP game rather than a separate entry in the series.

The game supports both solo play and multiplayer. Local matches can accommodate up to four players, while the original release also offered online play, allowing players to take their teams beyond the single-device experience. That variety gives FIFA Soccer 10 a practical balance on PSP: a player can work through competitions alone, set up a match with friends nearby, or use the online options that were available when the service was active. The core rules and flow remain grounded in football’s changing momentum, where one accurate through ball or saved chance can reshape a match.

As the successor to FIFA Soccer 09 and the predecessor to FIFA Soccer 11 on PSP, FIFA Soccer 10 captures the annual-update model of the series at the start of the 2009–10 football season. It is not the same game as the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 editions, whose development and feature messaging often dominate discussions of FIFA 10. For PSP players, this version is its own handheld production: a compact licensed football game from HB Studios designed around portable matches, team selection, and the repeated pursuit of a winning result.
