About

Disney-Pixar WALL-E PSP is a 2008 action-platform adventure based on Pixar’s animated film, published by THQ for Sony’s PlayStation Portable. It follows the lone trash-compacting robot WALL-E and the sleek probe EVE from a deserted, rubbish-covered Earth to the Buy n Large starliner Axiom. The handheld release is the portable version of the game designed by Asobo Studio for PlayStation 2, PC, and Mac, with Savage Entertainment handling the PSP port; it should not be confused with the substantially different PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii, or Nintendo DS adaptations.

The story begins in 2805, after humanity has left Earth aboard enormous starliners and only one working WALL-E remains. His discovery of a living plant brings EVE to the planet and sets the pair on a journey toward the Axiom. The campaign uses the film’s characters, locations, and broad premise, while taking some liberties with events and roles. Familiar figures including M-O, Captain McCrea, AUTO, GO-4, and the Axiom’s malfunctioning robots appear as WALL-E pursues the plant and the chance for the ship’s passengers to return home.

Play is built around 3D movement, platforming, exploration, and environmental puzzles. WALL-E drives on his treads, gathers and throws blocks, jumps gaps, operates machinery, and deals with hazards and security robots. Different cube types create practical problems to solve: ordinary blocks can be carried and positioned, while other varieties introduce explosive or magnetic uses. Stages also mix in chase sequences and races, so the game alternates between measured obstacle-solving and quicker action as the journey moves from the wasteland into the Axiom’s busy interior.

A key feature of this version is WALL-E’s ability to call on rescued reject bots by playing music. These malfunctioning machines can provide help with obstacles, adding a small companion-management element to the platforming. Players collect health and laser energy from containers, use WALL-E’s tools against enemies and barriers, and search levels for hidden items and unlockable extras. The adventure spans roughly two dozen stages, with Earth environments, space travel, and several Axiom areas giving the handheld game a broader route than a simple retelling of a few movie scenes.

Disney-Pixar WALL-E PSP arrived in North America on June 24, 2008, shortly before the film’s theatrical debut, with European and Australian releases following that year. Its PSP presentation adapts the Asobo game’s long single-player adventure for UMD while retaining the same family of levels and mechanics associated with the PlayStation 2 and computer releases. Multiplayer challenges are also included in the product’s feature set, but the central focus remains WALL-E’s campaign with EVE and the unusual robot allies encountered along the way.

The game belongs to a period when THQ produced separate licensed versions for different hardware rather than one identical release across every system. That distinction matters for WALL-E: the PSP edition shares its foundations with the Asobo-developed version, while the high-definition console release and DS game were made by other teams and use different level structures and features. For players exploring the film’s world on Sony’s handheld, Disney-Pixar WALL-E PSP offers a compact robot-led platform adventure centered on cube puzzles, rescues, hazards, and the route from an abandoned Earth to the Axiom.
