About

LEGO Harry Potter: Years 5-7 for Nintendo DS is a single-player action-adventure game that brings the final stretch of Harry Potter’s story into the LEGO game format. Developed for the handheld by TT Games and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, it arrived in North America on November 11, 2011, with a European release following on November 18. It continues LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4, adapting material from Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Half-Blood Prince, Deathly Hallows – Part 1, and Deathly Hallows – Part 2.

The adventure follows Harry, Ron, Hermione, and a large supporting cast as the wizarding world falls under Voldemort’s growing power. Story episodes move between Hogwarts and locations beyond the school, including the Ministry of Magic and Godric’s Hollow. The game condenses major scenes from the books and films into short, wordless LEGO set pieces, using slapstick animation and visual gags to retell the drama in the series’ familiar playful style.

Like other LEGO adventures, the Nintendo DS game centers on exploring rooms, breaking scenery, collecting LEGO Studs, and rebuilding objects to open a route forward. Players use spells to affect highlighted objects, solve environmental puzzles, and uncover hidden items. Many obstacles call for a particular character’s talent, so changing characters is an important part of progressing through stages and returning later to find missed secrets.

Wizard battles give the game a more direct magical focus. Regular enemies can be targeted and stunned with spell attacks, while key confrontations become one-on-one duels in which players trade and deflect magic. The DS version supports its duel actions through either the system’s buttons or touchscreen. Character-specific abilities also feed into puzzles: Ron’s Deluminator and Hermione’s cat are among the tools used to reach new areas or deal with obstacles that another wizard cannot handle.

There is plenty to revisit after the main story. The Nintendo DS release includes 24 story events and more than 80 unlockable characters, with character tokens, wizard hats, Red Bricks, and Studs scattered across its levels. Unlocking new playable figures and returning with the right abilities turns familiar scenes into a hunt for additional secrets, rather than a strictly one-time trip through the campaign.

LEGO Harry Potter: Years 5-7 is the second half of the two-game LEGO Harry Potter adaptation, completing the journey begun by Years 1-4. Its Nintendo DS edition is built as a portable, solo adventure rather than a copy of the home-console experience, but it retains the series’ mix of magical puzzles, collectible-driven exploration, and a broad cast drawn from the later Harry Potter years. For players looking for LEGO Harry Potter on Nintendo DS, it offers a compact conclusion to the saga from the fifth school year through the final confrontation with Voldemort.
