About

Backyard Baseball '10 is a 2009 arcade-style baseball game for Nintendo DS. This handheld edition was developed by Mistic Software and published by Atari; it is distinct from the Wii and PlayStation 2 releases, which were developed by FarSight Studios.

The game combines the Backyard Sports series' child-athlete presentation with Major League Baseball licensing. David Ortiz appears on the cover, and players can use pros reimagined as kids alongside the series' fictional Backyard players.

All 30 MLB teams are represented, while the DS version also includes six Backyard teams. Players can make their own player and team, choose from new fields and environments, and unlock additional content as they play.

Game options include single games, a season mode, and local multiplayer for two players. Power-ups add an exaggerated arcade element to the on-field action rather than aiming for a straight simulation.

On the DS, the focus is on setting a lineup and taking a team through quick matches or a longer season, with batting, pitching, fielding, and baserunning at the center of play. Its licensed clubs, customizable teams, and kid-focused cast make it a compact take on the Backyard Baseball formula.
