About
Perman Part 2: Himitsu Kessha Madoodan o Taose! is a Japan-only Famicom action game released by Irem on December 20, 1991. Based on Fujiko F. Fujio's superhero manga and anime, it follows the second Famicom adventure for Perman and arrives a year after Perman: Enban o Torikaese!!. The title sends the young heroes against the secret Madoodan organization, placing its licensed characters and light comic-book tone inside a compact action quest made for Nintendo's original Family Computer.
At the outset, the player chooses from four members of the team: Perman No. 1, Booby, Perman No. 3, and Perman No. 4. The selection changes the character shown on screen rather than providing four separate campaigns, so the central task remains the same: press through enemy territory, survive hazards, and reach the leaders blocking the route to Madoodan. The game is single-player and presents a short sequence of stages with individual boss encounters, culminating in a confrontation with the society's chief.
Its most recognizable play mechanic is flight. In the side-view portions, a hero can jump, hover, and take to the air, turning movement into more than a conventional left-to-right platform run. Flying offers a way past enemies and obstacles, while attacks deal with hostile characters, machines, and stage defenses. The action also shifts away from side view in indoor areas: these rooms use an overhead, isometric-style presentation where the character moves in four directions, enters doors, and can jump over selected traps but cannot fly. That alternation gives the Famicom game both outdoor aerial sections and building exploration.
Stages contain branching rooms, moving hazards, enemy fire, and optional P-marked doors. Those detours lead to small challenges such as crate rooms, tile puzzles, and memory games. Their rewards can improve the available attacks, encouraging players to explore instead of simply following the quickest line to a boss. Several separate attack types can be strengthened; when the game's component upgrades are all brought to their higher level, they combine into a more powerful screen-spanning shot. Passwords earned through the optional puzzle content also support progress between the early stages.
Perman Part 2: Himitsu Kessha Madoodan o Taose! belongs to the late Famicom period, arriving after the Super Famicom's Japanese debut but remaining firmly built around the older system's 2D presentation. It is also a direct follow-up rather than a port, remake, or adaptation of the later films. The 1991 cartridge retained its original Japanese release, making its title, dialogue, and television tie-in especially rooted in the Japanese Perman audience. For retro action fans, the appeal lies in its mixture of character selection, aerial platforming, indoor exploration, optional minigames, and a self-contained battle against Madoodan.
