GameBoy WORDLE is an unofficial, community-made Wordle-style puzzle for Nintendo's original Game Boy. It was created by stacksmashing and released on February 6, 2022.
The open-source homebrew was built with GBDK and is available as a Game Boy ROM, with an online version also provided by its creator.
Each round challenges the player to identify a hidden five-letter English word within six guesses.
The D-pad moves the cursor through the on-screen letter input, and the A button submits a guess.
Unlike the daily web game that inspired it, GameBoy WORDLE allows unlimited rounds.
To fit its vocabulary checks within the ROM, the game uses a bloom filter for roughly 8,000 common English words; this can accept some invalid entries because of false positives.
