About

Wizardry: New Age of Llylgamyn is a Japanese PlayStation compilation released in 1999. It brings together new versions of Wizardry IV: The Return of Werdna and Wizardry V: Heart of the Maelstrom, following the PlayStation collection Wizardry: Llylgamyn Saga.

Scenario IV reverses the usual party-based premise by placing the player in control of the resurrected wizard Werdna. Werdna works upward through the dungeon, commanding monsters and using spells while attempting to escape. The disc includes both a Classic version and an Arrange version of this scenario; Arrange adds its own events and endings.

Scenario V returns to a created adventuring party. The party enters the dungeons beneath Llylgamyn to rescue the trapped Gatekeeper and confront Sorn, whose plan threatens the world. Characters are registered at the tavern, with race, class, statistics, and alignment shaping the party's capabilities.

Its dungeon exploration uses a first-person view, step-by-step movement, secret doors, traps, and location-based encounters. Parties manage resources in town and underground, then take turns selecting attacks, spells, items, and defensive actions in combat. Experience and treasure support growth, equipment choices, and advancement through the scenarios.

The PlayStation presentation offers 3D-rendered dungeon views while retaining a selectable wireframe display. It also provides an automap, selectable monster-display styles, and collection features associated with each scenario. Scenario IV's Arrange mode is a distinct version rather than a replacement for the Classic scenario.

Characters from Wizardry: Llylgamyn Saga can be transferred into Scenario V, subject to the collection's transfer rules. This lets the earlier PlayStation compilation connect to the later scenario while maintaining the separate structure of the two games on this disc.

The original Japanese PlayStation release was published by Locus on October 28, 1999. A SuperLite Gold reissue followed in Japan in 2001, and a Windows edition was released later.
