About
Simulation RPG Tsukuru for PlayStation is a Japanese tactical-RPG creation tool from Pegasus Japan and ASCII. It first arrived in Japan in September 1998, with the PlayStation EB! Collection reissue following in November 2001.
Rather than presenting a fixed adventure as its main purpose, the software gives players the framework to build scenarios about moving units across strategic maps and taking enemy territory. The finished play experience is rooted in grid-based tactical encounters, with each map serving as a stage for an author’s own objectives and opposition.
The editor covers the central parts of a simulation RPG. Creators can assemble strategy maps, define characters and enemies, place items, and set up events to shape a scenario’s progress. This makes the game’s content depend on the choices made in the editor rather than on a single predefined setting.
Units are the focus on the map: players move them into position, engage opponents, and work toward the map’s goal. Battles are handled by formations rather than only isolated duels, giving creators a way to design encounters around groups of characters.
Character-oriented tools support the tactical framework with prepared visual resources and editable character elements. The game also includes options associated with class changes and recruitment-style persuasion, allowing scenarios to vary how characters join, develop, and contribute to a force.
Simulation RPG Tsukuru is a single-player PlayStation CD-ROM tool whose creations are kept as console save data. Its emphasis is on designing and testing compact original campaigns on the same machine, using the supplied assets and editor menus to turn maps, units, events, and battles into playable scenarios.
