About

Yarudora Portable: Blood the Last Vampire is a Japanese PlayStation Portable interactive-anime adventure released by Sony Computer Entertainment in Japan on January 26, 2006. Developed with Production I.G., it brings the two-part PlayStation 2 Blood the Last Vampire game together on one UMD as part of the Yarudora Portable line. Rather than adapting the 2000 animated film scene for scene, this entry tells a separate story in the same dark supernatural setting, with Saya and the human-mimicking Chiropterans at its center. The portable release retains the series’ emphasis on animated storytelling, voice performance, and player decisions rather than conventional combat stages.

The story moves to Tokyo in 2000 and follows a high-school student whose life changes after he begins hearing an ominous voice that nobody around him can detect. The disturbing phenomenon follows him from the subway into everyday life, pushing an initially ordinary situation toward paranoia and horror. His encounter with Saya, the sword-wielding girl who hunts Chiropterans, draws him into a hidden conflict with creatures that disguise themselves as people and feed on human blood. The premise makes the player’s viewpoint notably different from the original film’s mission-focused portrayal of Saya: the mystery unfolds alongside someone who is trying to understand why his own world has become unreliable.

Blood the Last Vampire plays as an interactive drama. Full-motion animated scenes carry the narrative forward, then present choices within a short time limit. Those responses steer the story through branches and variations, so progress comes from interpreting the situation and choosing how the protagonist reacts rather than mastering an action-game move set. A single-player session can therefore reveal only part of the material, while different decisions lead viewers down alternate paths through its thriller plot. The format is rooted in Yarudora, Sony and Production I.G.’s “playable drama” series, where anime-like presentation and choice-driven storytelling are the main mechanics.

The PSP version is specifically a compilation of the original 2000 PlayStation 2 upper and lower volumes, not a new sequel or the later Blood+ continuity. It packages the complete two-volume game in one release and adds portable-edition material including a strategy flow chart that helps track routes, a digital art gallery, and exclusive video content. That structure is useful for a story built around branching scenes, since the chart gives players a way to revisit decisions and pursue material they did not see on an earlier run. The game was released for PSP in Japan, with Sony Computer Entertainment as publisher; its Japanese language and region-specific release are an important part of its identity.

As a Blood the Last Vampire game, Yarudora Portable: Blood the Last Vampire links its urban horror to the wider franchise without assuming that the film’s events are its immediate plot. Saya remains the unmistakable connecting figure, while Tokyo, the unexplained voice, and the threat of concealed Chiropterans give this story its own perspective. It is best approached as a visual, choice-led adventure for players interested in anime-produced narrative games, the Yarudora catalogue, or a version of the Blood setting that spends more time on suspense, branching outcomes, and the human cost of discovering the supernatural.
