About

Rockman Dash 2 is Capcom's Japanese PlayStation Portable release of the 3D action-adventure originally known outside Japan as Mega Man Legends 2. Released for PSP in Japan in 2005, it revisits the second main adventure in the Rockman DASH branch of the Mega Man series. The handheld edition is built around the original game's story and exploratory structure, placing MegaMan Volnutt in a world where Diggers search ancient ruins for valuable Refractors while airships link scattered islands above a vast sea.

MegaMan travels with Roll Caskett and Data after an expedition led by Professor Barrel Caskett and Werner von Bluecher goes wrong near the Forbidden Island. Their search concerns the Mother Lode, a legendary power source, and the four keys said to open the way to it. The journey gradually connects the familiar Caskett crew with returning Bonne pirates and the mysterious Yuna and Sera, while also returning MegaMan to questions about his identity as MegaMan Trigger and the old systems that govern the setting.

Play is viewed from behind MegaMan as he moves through towns, ruins, caves and mission areas. Players use the standard buster, equip special weapons assembled by Roll from collected parts, buy items with the refractor shards recovered from defeated enemies, and look for upgrades that change the hero's defenses or mobility. Lock-on aiming, jumping, grabbing objects and interacting with local residents all support an adventure that mixes combat, platforming, dungeon exploration and small story-driven tasks.

The sequel expands its predecessor's single-island structure with several destinations reached aboard Roll's airship, the Flutter. Progress through the larger ruins is tied to Digger licenses, which open access to more difficult areas and stronger Reaverbots. The game also adds environmental hazards and an underwater ruin with altered movement, giving its equipment choices and combat systems different uses from one location to the next. Boss encounters, optional diversions and exchanges with townspeople help make the route to each key feel like a connected expedition rather than a sequence of isolated stages.

Rockman Dash 2 carries forward the series' distinctive blend of stylized 3D visuals, anime-influenced character scenes and a more personal science-fiction story than the classic side-scrolling Mega Man games. Its Japanese script and presentation retain the Rockman names, while international players may recognize the corresponding Mega Man Legends 2 characters and events. The central conflict becomes increasingly serious as MegaMan learns about the Carbon Reinitialization Program and the danger it poses to the people of Terra.

This PSP edition is notable as a Japanese Capcom release for the handheld rather than a new sequel or a separate remake. It includes Rockman DASH 2 - Episode 1: Roll-chan Kiki Ippatsu!, the previously Japanese-only playable preview scenario in which MegaMan sets out to rescue Roll after Tron Bonne captures her. That additional selection gives the package a short companion adventure alongside the main game and links it directly to the earlier promotional material for Rockman Dash 2.

For Mega Man and Rockman fans, Rockman Dash 2 preserves a pivotal chapter in the Legends storyline: a globe-spanning search for the Mother Lode that ends on a deliberately unresolved note. Its island-hopping exploration, weapon customization and recurring cast show why the Dash games stand apart within Capcom's larger Mega Man catalog, while the PSP release offers the Japanese handheld version of an adventure first created for the original PlayStation.
