About
WWE SmackDown! vs. RAW 2007 for PSP brings THQ and Yuke’s 2006 WWE wrestling game to Sony’s PlayStation Portable. Released in December 2006, it is the third entry to carry the SmackDown vs. Raw name and follows WWE SmackDown! vs. RAW 2006. Built around the WWE’s RAW and SmackDown brands of the period, the handheld game lets players take control of an extensive lineup of Superstars and Legends in licensed arenas, working toward exhibition victories, championships, and longer-form goals.
Matches center on the familiar give-and-take of professional wrestling: strike an opponent, wear down their condition, reverse incoming offense, build momentum, and look for the chance to finish a bout. The PSP controls adapt the game’s grappling ideas to the portable system, using buttons and directional input for holds and throws rather than the separate right-stick grappling used by the console versions. Wrestlers’ size classifications matter when attempting powerful moves, so selecting an appropriate attack and timing reversals are central to turning a match around.
The action does not have to remain inside the ropes. Players can brawl around the ringside area and use the environment in applicable match situations, turning objects and arena features into part of the contest. The match selection spans standard one-on-one and tag-team wrestling as well as specialty rules, giving the roster different ways to compete. Local multiplayer also makes the PSP release suitable for head-to-head bouts, while single-player play can be shaped around individual wrestlers, title pursuits, and unlocked content.
A major handheld-specific addition is Road to WrestleMania, a tournament-focused mode with several tournament formats. Players can enter a traditional King of the Ring-style competition, progress through a Money in the Bank tournament to establish the participants for its ladder match, or take part in brand-based and WrestleMania-oriented brackets. An optional Iron Man-style setting carries damage from one tournament match into the next, making recovery and match management matter beyond a single encounter.
WWE SmackDown! vs. RAW 2007 PSP retains important customization tools from the series. Create-A-Superstar allows players to assemble their own wrestler, while the creation suite also supports custom entrances, groups, and championships. The ability to organize a stable gives created or existing wrestlers a shared team identity, and the championship editor includes belts with spinning centerpieces inspired by the era’s WWE title presentation. These options complement the official roster and encourage players to build exhibitions around their own cards and rivalries.
The PSP version is a compact counterpart to the PlayStation 2 and Xbox 360 releases rather than a direct copy of every feature on those systems. It preserves much of the game’s modes, presentation, and updated 2006 WWE setting while scaling the experience for portable hardware and omitting the console right-stick control arrangement. As a 2006 WWE game, it captures a particular RAW and SmackDown roster era between SmackDown! vs. RAW 2006 and WWE SmackDown vs. RAW 2008, offering a portable mix of licensed wrestling, tournaments, match variety, and customization.
