About
Peggle for PSP brings PopCap Games’ colorful ball-and-peg puzzle game to PlayStation Portable as a downloadable PlayStation Store release from November 2010. Developed and published by PopCap, this portable edition adapts the original Peggle experience for the handheld rather than being a sequel or the Nintendo DS compilation Peggle: Dual Shot. Its simple premise draws on the feel of pachinko and pinball: line up a shot from the launcher at the top of the screen, fire a ball into a field of pegs, and hope careful angles and lively rebounds carry it through the board.
Each Adventure stage begins with blue pegs spread across a themed playfield, while a set of target pegs is marked orange. The objective is to remove every orange peg before the available supply of balls runs out. A shot can strike a long chain of pegs, ricochet from walls and obstacles, and sometimes drop into the moving catcher along the bottom for an extra ball. Although unexpected bounces are part of the appeal, choosing the opening angle, judging likely rebounds, and deciding which targets to pursue give every launch a tactical side.
Scoring rewards more than merely finishing a level. Longer peg chains, valuable bonus pegs, difficult combinations, and efficient use of the ball supply all help build a larger total. Clearing the orange targets triggers the game’s celebrated end-of-level flourish, turning the final drop into another chance for points. The familiar loop of aiming, watching the ball’s route unfold, and then rethinking the next shot makes Peggle easy to understand while leaving room to improve scores and complete boards more cleanly.
The PSP release includes the original game’s 55 Adventure levels, ten Peggle Masters, and 75 Challenges. Masters add personality to the journey and, more importantly, distinct magic powers activated by green pegs during a stage. Depending on the selected Master, a power can aid planning, change how the ball behaves, or improve the chances of extending a productive run. Adventure introduces these characters and their abilities over time, while the later Master levels allow the player to choose a preferred helper.
Beyond Adventure, Quick Play lets players revisit unlocked boards for a more immediate game, and Duel provides a competitive score-focused alternative. Challenge stages alter the demands placed on the player, encouraging efficient shots, ambitious clears, and different ways of approaching familiar layouts. These modes make the game more than a straight sequence of levels: the same board can produce a different route and score whenever the ball catches a new peg or finds an unlikely bounce.
Peggle began on computers in 2007 and reached several systems before its PSP debut. PopCap positioned the handheld version as the full original Peggle experience, retaining the core Masters, Adventure content, and Challenges while tailoring the presentation and controls for the smaller screen. For PSP owners, it stands as a compact version of a defining PopCap puzzle game: a bright, character-led challenge built around precision, probability, and the satisfaction of watching one well-placed shot set off a chain reaction.
