About

LEGO Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures brings the first three Indiana Jones films into Traveller's Tales' comic LEGO-game style on PlayStation Portable. Released in 2008 by LucasArts, it retells Raiders of the Lost Ark, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade as a lighthearted action-adventure. The familiar moments are recast with silent minifigure slapstick: a rolling boulder, a snake-filled ruin, mine carts, deserts, temples, and the search for the Holy Grail all become settings for building, breaking, and problem-solving.

The adventure is organized around three film-based chapters, each divided into stages, with Barnett College serving as the hub between expeditions. Story levels begin with the characters suited to a scene, then send them through combat encounters, platforming sections, traps, and environmental puzzles. Instead of treating the films as a shot-for-shot retelling, the game uses the LEGO tone to turn famous plot beats into visual gags while keeping the globe-trotting rhythm of Indy's original trilogy.

Indiana Jones' whip is central to the game's puzzles and action. It can knock enemies back, grab handles, manipulate objects, and help Indy swing across gaps. Other characters contribute useful talents, such as digging, repairing mechanisms, jumping higher, crawling through small spaces, handling books that decode symbols, or interacting with special objects. Character fears also matter in certain situations, so an encounter with snakes can temporarily stop Indy from acting until another character helps clear the way.

As in earlier LEGO games, destructible scenery yields Studs, the series' collectible currency, while piles of loose bricks can be assembled into bridges, switches, machines, or other tools needed to move forward. Enemies can be fought with fists, improvised objects, Indy’s whip, and occasionally limited-ammunition weapons. Some stages add vehicles or animals to the mix, and hidden treasures, parcels, extras, and bonus objectives reward careful exploration beyond the direct route through a level.

Completing a stage opens it for Free Play, where previously unlocked characters can be brought back to reach areas that were inaccessible during the first visit. The game includes a large roster drawn from the films, and its character-creation option lets players combine LEGO body parts into custom figures. That replay structure turns the campaign into more than a single pass through the trilogy, encouraging returns for collectibles, secrets, and the higher completion totals associated with the LEGO series.

The PSP edition preserves the main campaign and its puzzle-driven structure in a portable format, but it is not simply the same experience as the home-console releases. It does not include the local cooperative play available on several other versions, leaving the second character under computer control. Contemporary reviews also singled out the handheld edition's longer loading times, small-screen framing, and controls as compromises, even while recognizing that its humorous levels, familiar set pieces, and collectible-focused replay value remained intact.

For players looking for a family-friendly Indiana Jones game on PSP, LEGO Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures offers a compact tour through the original film trilogy rather than the later Crystal Skull story. Its appeal comes from the combination of accessible combat, environmental puzzles, LEGO construction, character abilities, and affectionate parody. The result is an adventure that treats archaeology, ancient artifacts, and cliffhanger escapes with as much interest in a clever solution or a hidden Stud trail as in the next whip crack.
