About

Pac-Man World 3 for PSP brings Namco's famous yellow hero to the PlayStation Portable in a 3D action-platform adventure. Developed by Blitz Games, it is the third and final Pac-Man World game, following Pac-Man World and Pac-Man World 2. The PSP edition reached North America in December 2005 through Namco Hometek, with European releases following during 2006. It is a portable version of the same large-scale console-era adventure rather than a return to the original arcade maze format, though its design repeatedly nods to Pac-Man history.

The story begins during Pac-Man's 25th birthday celebration, when Orson abruptly transports him into a crisis affecting Pac-Land and the Spectral Realm. The inventor Erwin has built machines to draw energy from the ghosts' dimension for his robot army, and the disturbance threatens both worlds. Pac-Man sets out to destroy the spectral siphons, rescue friends caught up in Erwin's scheme, and stop the two realms from collapsing together. Unlike the silent arcade icon, this version gives Pac-Man spoken dialogue, with Martin T. Sherman voicing the character.

At its core, Pac-Man World 3 is built around exploring 3D stages, reaching an exit, and collecting Pac-Dots, fruit, and other hidden items along the way. Players guide Pac-Man across platforms, through hazards, and around enemies, mixing familiar series imagery with an adventure-game structure. The campaign spans varied locations, including industrial ruins, desert and mountain areas, dangerous towers, and the otherworldly Spectral Realm. Many stages also tuck away collectible 25th Anniversary Pac-Man statues, giving thorough explorers extra objectives beyond simply finishing a level.

Pac-Man has a broader moveset than in the original maze games. He can jump, punch opponents, perform a ground-pound-like Butt-Bounce, and charge a Rev Roll for attacks or for interacting with particular devices. Pole climbing and swinging create more platforming routes, while B-Doing launch pads send him across gaps. Colored crystals can activate machinery and form Pac-Dot chains, turning traversal and item collection into part of the route through a stage rather than a separate score chase.

Special pellets add situational abilities and connect the game to Pac-Man's roots. Power Pellets are used during encounters with hostile Spectral creatures, while other pellets temporarily change Pac-Man's attacks; examples include electric attacks that can stun nearby enemies and a Ribbon Loop ability that can damage foes inside a loop. Certain summon points call on ghost allies for help, and the adventure occasionally changes pace with vehicle-style sequences involving Toc-Man, the robotic counterpart introduced in the first Pac-Man World.

The PSP release also preserves the game's celebratory angle. Its bonus material includes a museum that traces milestones in the Pac-Man series, an interview with creator Toru Iwatani, and an emulated version of the 1980 Pac-Man arcade game. Pac-Man World 3 therefore combines the franchise's dots, ghosts, fruit, and power-up tradition with voiced characters, combat, platforming, and a story-driven journey designed for the handheld's single-player audience. It remains the closing chapter of the original Pac-Man World trilogy and was not officially released in Japan.
