About

Little Busters! Converted Edition for PSP is a Japanese visual novel from Key, published for PlayStation Portable by Prototype on November 25, 2010. This portable release is an all-ages conversion of the Little Busters! Ecstasy material rather than the original 2007 Windows edition alone: it retains the expanded cast and story content introduced through that version while omitting its adult material. It follows Riki Naoe, a high-school student whose closest friends are the exuberant group known as the Little Busters. When their leader Kyousuke proposes forming a baseball team, Riki and the shy, cat-loving Rin Natsume begin looking for new members around their school.

The game is structured as a choice-driven romance adventure. Players read Riki's narration and dialogue, advance through school-life scenes, and select responses at key moments; those decisions determine which character route the story follows. Several heroines have their own paths, and completing routes opens the way toward later scenarios, so replaying with different choices is central to seeing the wider narrative. The central group—Riki, Rin, Kyousuke, muscular Masato Inohara, and kendo practitioner Kengo Miyazawa—provides the through line, while potential recruits such as Komari Kamikita, Haruka Saigusa, Kudryavka Noumi, Yuiko Kurugaya, and Mio Nishizono bring their own stories to the team.

Little Busters! is not solely a sequence of text choices. Its school setting includes recurring diversions that turn the friends' everyday energy into small interactive systems. A baseball batting-practice game lets Riki take the plate and time swings, fitting the team's stated objective. Comedic battle encounters present character statistics, equipment, and results, while missions can award experience and accessories that support those battles. These activities are optional enough for players who prefer to concentrate on the reading, but they give the group’s games, arguments, and rivalries a mechanical counterpart between dramatic scenes.

Converted Edition carries the larger route selection associated with Ecstasy, including the additional heroines Kanata Futaki, Sasami Sasasegawa, and Saya Tokido. That makes it a more expansive console presentation than an adaptation of only the first release. The broader ensemble keeps the story focused on friendship as well as romance: the Little Busters began as the people who pulled Riki out of grief after losing his parents, and their high-school days repeatedly test what it means to rely on friends while growing more independent. The baseball-team search supplies an accessible starting point, but the branching format gradually reveals more about the school, its students, and the bonds holding the group together.

The PSP edition is specifically a port of Prototype's 2009 PlayStation 2 Converted Edition, not a separate remake. Its most notable platform-focused addition is greatly expanded voice work: the PSP release voices roughly 80 percent of dialogue other than Riki’s, adding performances for many characters who had not been voiced in the prior Windows and PS2 versions. Prototype also included a required Memory Stick installation of the first disc's data and a feature that allows event visuals to be used as PSP wallpaper. These changes were designed around carrying a lengthy visual novel on Sony's handheld while preserving the PS2 version’s content.

Key developed Little Busters! as one of its major visual-novel productions after Kanon, Air, and Clannad, with scenario work credited to Jun Maeda, Yuto Tonokawa, Chika Shirokiri, and Leo Kashida, and character art led by Itaru Hinoue and Na-Ga. Its music combines work by Key regulars including Shinji Orito, Jun Maeda, Magome Togoshi, PMMK, and Manack. The story later expanded beyond games into comics, music releases, and animation, while Kudryavka Noumi went on to headline the related spin-off Kud Wafter. For PSP owners interested in Japanese visual novels, Little Busters! Converted Edition preserves the series’ school-life setting, route-based progression, character-focused storytelling, and distinctive minigame touches in the enhanced handheld version.
