About

Justice League Heroes for PSP is a 2006 DC Comics action role-playing game developed by Snowblind Studios and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. It brings the team-based, top-down combat style associated with Snowblind's earlier fantasy action RPGs to the PlayStation Portable, with a Justice League story by comic writer Dwayne McDuffie. Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, the Flash, Green Lantern John Stewart, Martian Manhunter, and Zatanna form the core playable lineup as a crisis involving Brainiac draws the heroes into a globe-spanning and cosmic campaign.

The adventure is built around two-hero missions. Players battle groups of enemies, break scenery, and use each character's individual powers while moving through story locations. Superman attacks with tremendous strength and heat vision, Batman relies on gadgets and martial arts, and the magical, speed-based, and energy-powered heroes each bring a different approach to the same encounters. A solo player can switch between the two members assigned to a mission, while the PSP version also supports cooperative play through the system's ad hoc wireless feature.

Combat and progression give Justice League Heroes PSP its action-RPG identity. Defeating foes earns experience, and heroes can develop their powers to suit a preferred fighting style. Character-specific abilities, health and combat improvements, and equipment-style boosts make the roster more than a collection of cosmetic swaps. The campaign also uses fixed character pairings in parts of the story, so missions can emphasize particular heroes and their roles in the unfolding threat rather than always offering a completely open team selection.

The plot begins with attacks connected to Brainiac and expands through confrontations with familiar DC adversaries and threats to Earth itself. The League investigates events involving S.T.A.R. Labs, Metropolis, White Martians, Gorilla Grodd, Doomsday, and ultimately Darkseid. That escalating structure carries the heroes from city battles to the Watchtower, Mars, and other large-scale settings, while the game's dialogue and cutscenes frame its original DC universe story around cooperation between characters with very different abilities.

Justice League Heroes on PlayStation Portable is closely related to the PlayStation 2 and Xbox releases, but it is not the separate Nintendo DS prequel or the Game Boy Advance spin-off Justice League Heroes: The Flash. Snowblind developed the PSP edition as part of the main game line, adapting its action-RPG format to the handheld. It also adds two unlockable playable characters exclusive to this version: Supergirl and Black Canary. Alternate costumes are unlockable as well, giving several heroes looks drawn from other points in their comic-book histories and modestly changing their statistics.

For players looking for a Justice League game on PSP, Justice League Heroes offers a portable campaign centered on character powers, paired combat, upgrades, and a DC roster that ranges from iconic founding members to magical and extraterrestrial allies. Its mix of selectable heroes, cooperative wireless play, unlockable content, and a story written specifically around a League-level emergency makes it a distinct handheld entry in the wider 2006 release family.
