About
FIFA Soccer 07 PSP brings EA Sports' 2006 football season to Sony's PlayStation Portable in a portable edition built around licensed club and international competition. Published by EA Sports and credited to Team Fusion on PSP, it is the third FIFA entry for the handheld. The game arrived in North America in October 2006 as FIFA Soccer 07, while many other territories used the shorter FIFA 07 title.
Matches use the series' familiar broadcast-style presentation and let players choose sides, set tactics, and work the ball through midfield before creating shooting chances. Passing, tackling, crosses, through balls, goalkeeper play, and set pieces form the basis of play, with the PSP controls adapted to its buttons, directional pad, and analog nub. The focus is on managing space and timing as much as on simply sending the ball forward.
The PSP edition includes 27 leagues from 20 countries, with the Turkish league added to the selection, alongside international sides and a Rest of World group. That licensed framework supports exhibition matches, tournaments, and a sizeable collection of scenarios. Its Challenge mode includes comeback situations and rout challenges, asking players to take over with a particular scoreline or match condition and achieve the required result.
Manager Mode made its PSP debut in FIFA Soccer 07. Rather than only playing isolated fixtures, players guide a club through a longer campaign while balancing performances on the pitch with sponsor, board, and supporter concerns. A manager career could also be exchanged with the PlayStation 2 version through the PS2-to-PSP link, giving this portable release a connection to its home-console counterpart without making it a simple port of a different version.
Training is another PSP-specific addition. The returning Juggling activity tests ball control, while Wall Attack turns practice into a score challenge: shots strike coloured blocks on a wall, points are needed before the timer expires, and special blocks can affect nearby or matching-colour targets. These activities can be played as mini-games in their own right as well as serving the game's training theme.
FIFA Soccer 07 also supports solo play and multiplayer on the handheld, including local ad hoc and infrastructure wireless play. It followed FIFA Soccer 06 on PSP and carried the annual series into the 2006-07 football calendar with updated squads, a broad league selection, career management, challenge scenarios, and compact training games tailored to the system.
