About
Chaos;Head Noah for PSP is a Japanese science-fiction visual novel from 5pb. and Nitroplus, published by 5pb. in Japan on June 24, 2010. The PlayStation Portable release brings the expanded Chaos;Head Noah edition to Sony's handheld after its Xbox 360 debut, placing a lengthy, text-led psychological suspense story in the player’s hands. It is a single-player adventure built around reading scenes, following dialogue, and deciding how protagonist Takumi Nishijo responds when his perceptions begin to fail him.
Takumi is a second-year high-school student living an isolated life in Shibuya, Tokyo. Online discussion of a string of gruesome crimes known as the New Generation Madness is everywhere when an enigmatic contact calling himself Shogun sends Takumi images that appear to predict another killing. A horrifying encounter soon draws him into the case. As the threat closes in, the story turns its attention to conspiracy, internet culture, fear, and the uneasy boundary between an imagined event and a real one. Characters including Rimi Sakihata, a girl who suddenly claims to know Takumi, become central to his increasingly unstable view of the city around him.
Rather than using reflex-based action, Chaos;Head Noah PSP advances through prose, illustrated scenes, voice performances, and player decisions. Its defining Delusion Trigger system presents moments when Takumi can give in to a positive fantasy, a negative one, or sometimes remain grounded. Those choices change the scenes the player sees and help shape the route reached across repeat playthroughs. A TIPS glossary gradually collects explanations of the game’s terminology and slang, giving players a reference point as its mystery develops. The result is an interactive novel whose tension comes from asking whether Takumi’s version of events can be trusted.
Noah is not simply another title with a similar name: it is the enhanced version of the original 2008 Windows game Chaos;Head. The earlier Xbox 360 edition added heroine-focused scenarios, and the PSP port retains that story content rather than replacing it with a new plot. For the handheld version, the interface was redesigned for PSP controls; it also added a new opening sequence and new opening and ending songs. The Japanese PSP release carries a CERO D rating, unlike the Xbox 360 version’s CERO Z classification, and was later followed by a Japanese PlayStation Store release.
As the first entry in the Science Adventure series, Chaos;Head Noah establishes ideas and terminology that echo through later related games while telling a self-contained Shibuya mystery. Its visual-novel format rewards careful reading and additional runs, since different delusion choices reveal alternate perspectives and endings. For players seeking a PSP story game centered on psychological suspense rather than conventional combat, Chaos;Head Noah offers an ambitious blend of urban paranoia, speculative science fiction, and branching character drama.
