About

Bakemonogatari Portable is a PlayStation Portable game developed by Dimps and published by Bandai Namco Games in Japan on August 23, 2012. It is based on the 2009 Bakemonogatari television anime, itself adapted from Nisio Isin's light novel series rather than the later manga adaptation.

The story follows high-school student Koyomi Araragi after his encounter with a vampire. With the help of Meme Oshino, he becomes involved with classmates and other girls affected by supernatural oddities.

The game retells the anime's five Bakemonogatari story arcs, from Hitagi Crab through Tsubasa Cat. Animated story segments are paired with the game's dialogue-driven encounters.

Its central system is a conversation battle in which players assemble and choose lines of dialogue. Each line has attributes and attack-related values, and effective choices move a control gauge in the player's favor.

Story Mode follows Koyomi through the adaptation, while Free Battle allows matches against computer-controlled characters and Ad Hoc multiplayer supports local matches between PSP systems. Extra Mode adds further opponents.

A post-game Imagination Mode lets players arrange dialogue between selected characters to create their own conversation scenes. Replays can be saved, and the game includes a feature for converting saved scenes into AVI video files.
