About
Tinker Bell for Nintendo DS is a 2008 Disney Fairies adventure that places Tink in a freely explored Pixie Hollow as its residents prepare the changing seasons. It is the original DS game tied to the first Tinker Bell film era, rather than the later Lost Treasure or Great Fairy Rescue games.
The year unfolds through spring, summer, autumn, and winter preparations. Progress through those seasonal assignments opens more of Pixie Hollow to visit; once all four are complete, the locations remain available and season work can be revisited with changing requests.
Fairies around the Hollow give Tink practical jobs, including deliveries, finding insects and materials, fulfilling item requests, and repairing damaged objects. Helping friends and choosing gifts affects the Friendship Meter, giving those everyday errands a role in strengthening Tink's relationships with the other fairies.
Crafting and repair activities make full use of the DS touch screen. Players follow grooves, rub away stains, trace shapes, guide Tink between areas, and use gestures for actions such as glowing to reveal hidden objects, somersaulting to collect falling items, or waking plants. The microphone is also used for small tasks such as blowing away dust or moving leaves and petals.
Short minigames break up the exploration with activities such as catching dew drops, painting ladybugs, and gathering thread from silkworms. Materials and completed tasks feed into the dress-up side of the game, where Tink can create and customize more than one hundred dresses and accessories.
The cartridge includes wireless multiplayer modes and support for Disney's then-current DGamer service. DGamer let players build a separate 3-D profile avatar, earn honors and themed accessories, and connect through Disney's online community features, placing the game firmly in its original Nintendo DS release context.
