About

Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith for Nintendo DS is a 2005 action game from Ubisoft Montréal and Ubisoft, released alongside George Lucas's final prequel-era film. Rather than using the fully 3D approach of the PlayStation 2 and Xbox editions, this handheld adaptation combines a side-view, depth-aware brawler with 3D starfighter sequences. Players choose Anakin Skywalker or Obi-Wan Kenobi and follow the film's conflict as the Republic collapses and the Jedi face the rise of the Sith.

The main campaign plays as a 2.5D action adventure: characters move through stages with some room to shift between foreground and background while cutting through battle droids, clone troops, and other foes. Lightsaber strikes, Force abilities, physical attacks, and blaster deflection form the core of combat. Enemy patterns and hazards make timing important, especially during encounters that call for a well-placed block before an opponent can be damaged. The game presents two difficulty settings and lets players experience the story from either Jedi's perspective.

Anakin and Obi-Wan have closely related basic move sets but different special attacks. Fighting fills each hero's meter, allowing a powerful Fury or Focus-style technique to be unleashed when it is ready. The DS hardware is also put to use for special moves on the touch screen. This keeps the familiar lightsaber action immediate while giving the player another input method for dramatic attacks.

Progress is more than simply reaching the next movie-inspired scene. Missions award and hide customization points, with performance and exploration contributing to the supply. Those points can be spent between stages to improve statistics and purchase new attacks and abilities, giving the chosen Jedi a gradually broader combat toolkit. Stages mix regular enemy battles with bosses, elite opponents, vehicles, and environmental dangers, so the journey moves between close-quarters saber fights and set-piece challenges.

The Nintendo DS edition distinguishes itself from its Game Boy Advance counterpart with 3D space-combat missions. These starfighter sections send the player after targets and enemy craft, creating a different pace from the scrolling campaign. Once available, space battles can also be selected separately from the main menu. The game takes advantage of the DS wireless features for multiplayer starfighter matches, supporting battles with other systems and computer-controlled pilots; its vehicle roster draws from both the prequel and original Star Wars eras.

Revenge of the Sith arrived during the 2005 wave of games tied to the film, but it should not be confused with the mechanically different home-console version or its alternate ending. On Nintendo DS, the adaptation remains focused on its portable interpretation of the movie's Jedi action: choose Anakin or Obi-Wan, build their skills through the campaign, then take the conflict into aerial battles designed for the system. Regional releases retained the Episode III branding in local languages, including the Japanese Star Wars Episode 3: Sith no Fukushuu.
