About
Winx Club Rockstars is a Nintendo DS rhythm game developed by RIZ Inc. and published by Rainbow S.p.A. It was released in Europe on November 26, 2010. Based on the Winx Club animated series, it recasts the fairies as performers preparing for a musical competition rather than as magical adventurers.
The story follows the Winx as they enter the Gardenia Rockstars talent contest. Players help the group build a stage-ready band, rehearse their acts, look after friendships, and win over audiences as they work toward the competition. The presentation centers on the series' characters, fashion, pop music, and Believix-themed concert spectacle.
Performances are built around four instruments: vocals, guitar, drums, and keyboard. Each uses a different touch-focused rhythm challenge, asking the player to match onscreen prompts in time with the song. Vocal parts use colored circles tapped as they reach a target and sometimes invite the player to sing into the DS microphone.
The instruments make use of the DS controls in distinct ways. Drum and keyboard parts call for touchscreen taps or strikes at the right moment, while guitar sections require holding a direction on the D-pad and swiping the touchscreen to strum. These simple minigame-style inputs keep the timing challenge approachable for newcomers.
The game is structured around studio practice, rehearsals, and concert performances, with a Free Mode available for playing music outside the main progression. Its set list contains a dozen Winx Club songs, and strong scores and achievements provide the route to additional rewards.
Players can choose from eight playable characters and perform across ten stages. More than 120 items can be earned or bought, including clothing, hairstyles, accessories, instruments, and other options for styling the fairies between shows. It is a single-player cartridge release.
