About
Petz: Pony Beauty Pageant for Nintendo DS is a horse-care simulation published by Ubisoft and developed by HotGen. Released in North America in October 2009, it places the player in charge of a Pony Club, combining daily animal care with grooming, training and competition. The game was issued in Europe shortly beforehand under the title Poney Club by Alexandra Ledermann, making it a regional edition rather than a separate Nintendo DS game.
The routine centers on looking after a group of ponies. Players feed them, wash them and brush them, then prepare them for the activities ahead. Care is tied to the game’s larger pony-trainer role: rather than simply collecting animals, the player works toward keeping the ponies presentable and ready for the club’s events. Its activities are framed as an accessible virtual-pet experience with an equestrian theme.
Training includes dressage and jumping mini-games. These events give the game a more active component alongside the grooming and care tasks, and they support progress through its stages. As the player advances, the goal is to enter ponies in beauty pageants and ultimately lead the Grand Pony Parade. That progression connects the quieter stable work to a clear series of competitive milestones.
Customization is another major part of Petz: Pony Beauty Pageant. Players can alter the appearance of a pony’s hair as well as its saddle and hooves, choosing colors, patterns and designs before entering pageants. The game also sends players on walks where they encounter animals and earn stickers. Building the sticker collection provides an additional objective apart from pony training and pageant preparation.
Nintendo DS wireless features support exchanges with other players, including stickers and accessories, while the club setting introduces fellow trainers as part of the adventure. As an entry in Ubisoft’s Petz line, the game adapts the series’ pet-care format to ponies and horse-show presentation rather than dogs, cats or smaller animals. Its mix of tending, dressage, jumping, decorative choices and collecting makes it a distinctly pony-focused installment in the late-2000s DS Petz catalog.
