About

LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars for Nintendo DS is a 2011 LEGO-themed action-adventure from TT Games, published by LucasArts. Built for Nintendo’s dual-screen handheld rather than simply mirroring the larger console releases, it turns stories from the Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated film and television series into brisk, wordless comic scenes. Jedi, clone troopers, droids and familiar figures from across Star Wars appear as minifigures, while the series’ physical slapstick and visual gags keep the galactic conflict deliberately playful.

The campaign is organized around more than ten story missions from the Clone Wars era. Players guide a small party through hostile installations, battlefields and space, moving with the D-pad and using the face buttons for jumping, attacking, shooting and character abilities. At any point the active character can be changed with the shoulder buttons or the touch screen, so a blocked route often becomes a prompt to choose the Jedi, clone trooper or specialist whose skill is needed next.

Combat is only one part of each mission. Jedi use the Force to manipulate objects and clear paths, while other characters can activate equipment, fire blasters, employ grappling abilities or handle tasks tied to their particular role. LEGO objects can be broken apart and rebuilt into useful devices, making environmental puzzles a central part of progress. Collecting studs adds the familiar LEGO-game incentive to explore, and replaying completed content with a wider roster can open routes and collectibles that were unavailable during an initial visit.

The Nintendo DS version also uses its touch screen for quick interactions. It can display teammates for direct selection and is used for particular Force, object-handling and activation actions, pairing stylus input with conventional button control instead of treating the lower screen as a passive map. That handheld design helps keep the focus on compact encounters and puzzle rooms while retaining the character-switching structure that defines the LEGO Star Wars games.

Clone Wars hardware and settings give the adventure its own identity within the series. Clone weapons, Jedi techniques and era-specific vehicles sit beside classic Star Wars guest characters that can be unlocked. Space stages break up the on-foot action with flights in ships such as Jedi starfighters and Y-wings, and the game includes extra activities that play with the setting rather than presenting it solemnly, including snowball-fight and droid-volleyball minigames.

As the third LEGO Star Wars game, LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars on Nintendo DS follows the approachable action-and-puzzle formula established by its predecessors but applies it to the then-current animated Clone Wars stories. It is a single-player portable interpretation of that material, so its structure and content should not be confused with the larger home-console version. For players looking for a Nintendo DS Star Wars game with simple exploration, collectible-driven replay and LEGO’s comic take on Jedi and clone adventures, it offers a focused trip through a galaxy at war.
