About
LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes on Nintendo DS brings the Caped Crusader’s brick-built world to a portable, level-based action-adventure. Batman and Robin are called into action when the Joker and Lex Luthor threaten Gotham City, turning Bruce Wayne’s Man of the Year celebration into the opening of a larger DC Comics story. Superman joins the investigation, and familiar heroes including Wonder Woman, the Flash, and Green Lantern appear as the conflict grows beyond Gotham’s usual rogues’ gallery.
The Nintendo DS edition is a handheld version of the 2012 game, developed under the TT Games banner and published by Warner Bros. Games. It follows the same central Batman, Robin, Superman, Joker, and Lex Luthor storyline as the other releases, but it is structured around compact brick-built environments rather than presenting the broad roaming Gotham associated with the home-console game. Its focused stages make the mystery easy to take on in short sessions while still carrying the series’ mix of comic-book drama and LEGO comedy.
Most of the adventure revolves around swapping between available heroes, reading the environment, and using the right talent to move forward. Batman can rely on gadgets such as Batarangs, while DC heroes bring their own powers to obstacles and fights. Superman’s heat vision, freeze breath, and flight give the team different options, and Batman and Robin can access special suits with useful abilities. Combat is lighthearted and physical: characters punch, kick, use gadgets, and break enemies into LEGO pieces while gathering the studs that litter each stage.
Puzzles and collection goals provide much of the game’s replay value. Players smash objects to uncover pieces, build Minikits, hunt down Gold LEGO Bricks, and look for secrets that unlock bonuses. The roster includes 50 DC Comics characters to collect, each with distinctive abilities that can open routes or solve problems unavailable to the starting heroes. Returning to completed stages with a wider selection of characters turns missed items and blocked paths into fresh objectives.
The DS version also preserves a major series milestone by giving its LEGO characters spoken dialogue rather than relying solely on wordless pantomime. The chatter helps sell the odd-couple chemistry between Batman and Robin and gives the crossover cast room for playful exchanges. It is a family-friendly superhero adventure with cartoon violence, keeping its clashes colorful and playful even when the villains raise the stakes.
For multiplayer, LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes supports two players in simultaneous action through Nintendo DS Multi-Card Play, with each player needing a copy of the game. That distinguishes its local portable co-op setup from the split-screen multiplayer found on the home-console releases. Nintendo 3DS owners can also play this Nintendo DS game in 2D, but this cartridge remains the DS edition rather than the separate 3DS release. Whether playing alone or alongside a partner, it offers a collectible-driven DC adventure built for Nintendo’s dual-screen handheld.
