About
Ben 10 Ultimate Alien: Cosmic Destruction for PlayStation 2 is a third-person action-adventure based on Cartoon Network's Ben 10: Ultimate Alien. Developed for the console versions by Papaya Studio and published in North America by D3Publisher, it arrived in 2010, with the European PS2 release following in February 2011. The game puts Ben Tennyson in the role of a publicly known hero who carries the Ultimatrix, a device that lets him take on alien forms and use their different powers in the field.
The story begins as an enormous alien threat approaches Earth. Ben must travel to locate pieces of the Potis Altiare, an ancient Galvan artifact that may strengthen the Ultimatrix enough to stop the danger. This gives the adventure a globe-spanning structure: missions take Ben through locations including Rome, Paris, Tokyo, and China, rather than confining the action to a single hometown or headquarters. Familiar allies and enemies from the Ultimate Alien era frame the quest, while the game tells a self-contained crisis built around the artifact hunt.
On PS2, play alternates between controlling Ben and transforming into a selection of alien heroes. Each form is designed around a different style of movement or combat, so choosing an alien is part of working through an encounter or obstacle. The action is viewed from behind the character as players explore 3D areas, fight groups of alien opponents, and face bosses. Basic close-range attacks are supplemented by powers such as fire, ice, sonic energy, and electricity, giving transformations distinct tools for clearing enemies.
Cosmic Destruction also mixes puzzles and platforming into its combat-focused stages. Traversal challenges and environmental problems ask players to consider which alien ability suits the route ahead, while combat sections test the same forms against regular foes and larger opponents. The game is a single-player adventure, and its level-by-level progress follows Ben's search for the scattered artifact pieces. Its combination of exploration, fighting, ability-based problem solving, and boss battles makes the Ultimatrix central to both the story and the gameplay loop.
This PlayStation 2 edition belongs to the wider cross-platform release, which also appeared on PlayStation 3, PSP, Wii, Xbox 360, and Nintendo DS. The DS version was developed by Griptonite Games, while Papaya Studio handled the PS2 and other console versions, so it should not be treated as the same production across every platform. The console release is also distinct from earlier Ben 10 games: it draws specifically on the Ultimate Alien television series and its Ultimatrix-era premise rather than the original show's earlier status quo.
For Ben 10 fans, Ben 10 Ultimate Alien: Cosmic Destruction on PS2 offers a standalone licensed adventure built around the appeal of switching forms to meet a changing set of challenges. Its international settings, artifact-driven plot, and range of alien attacks provide a clear connection to the series while giving the player direct control over Ben's transformations. As a late PlayStation 2 action game, it preserves the franchise's early-2010s console approach in a focused campaign designed for one player.
