About

Princess Maker: Legend of Another World is a Japanese Super Famicom (SNES) raising simulation released by Takara on December 15, 1995. Developed by Gainax, it is a standalone Super Famicom entry in the Princess Maker family, built around guiding a girl who has been entrusted to the player until her eighteenth birthday. The original Japanese release is also known as Princess Maker: Legend of Another World, and it was made for one player.

Rather than directing a single linear adventure, the game asks the player to shape the girl’s development through repeated decisions. Each month, her time can be assigned to school, work, adventure, or rest and vacation. Those choices affect a broad set of personal abilities and conditions, including physical aptitude, intelligence, refinement, sensitivity, moral character, stress, and specialized talents. The result is a long-term management game in which daily priorities matter as much as any one event.

Education offers routes such as science, languages, theology, strategy, fencing, fighting, magic, etiquette, painting, and dance. Part-time work provides another way to develop abilities while earning money. The player also manages practical details outside the schedule: visits around town, purchases from shops, diet settings, equipment, and conversations with the daughter all form part of the household routine. Clothing, weapons, armor, and other items can be equipped, tying preparation to both ordinary life and more hazardous activities.

Adventure gives this Super Famicom version an additional fantasy-game dimension. The daughter can be sent to regions including a forest, desert, lake, and glacier, where encounters call for choices such as talking, hiding, or fighting. Its combat is handled through a card-based system that uses sword and magic options, with health and magical resources connected to the girl’s development. Training for physical and magical skills therefore has consequences beyond the status screen, especially when preparing for travel.

The annual Harvest Festival provides a recurring showcase for different paths of development. Depending on preparation, the daughter may enter events connected with combat, art, appearance, or cooking. These occasions sit alongside the game’s emphasis on social standing, artistic ability, combat training, and household life, making it possible to pursue markedly different priorities over the years. The relationship and status choices accumulated along the way ultimately influence the conclusion reached at adulthood.

Princess Maker: Legend of Another World shares the series’ central appeal: a player-created coming-of-age story defined by planning rather than a fixed character build. Its Japanese-only Super Famicom release combines the familiar Princess Maker style of education and work scheduling with its own adventure and combat presentation. Takara’s product information advertises more than 70 possible endings, giving the game many potential outcomes for the daughter’s future and encouraging different approaches across separate playthroughs.
