About

xXx on Game Boy Advance is a 2002 single-player action game developed by Digital Eclipse and published by Activision. Based on the film, it casts underground thrill-seeker Xander Cage as a newly recruited agent sent after the Anarchy 99 organization.

Most missions use a side-scrolling run-and-gun format. Xander advances through linear, multi-level environments, dealing with armed opponents and other hazards while searching for the way forward. The action moves quickly, with enemies able to attack from different heights across the screen.

The campaign contains 11 missions. Eight are on-foot action stages, while three shift to motorcycle sequences, giving the Game Boy Advance version a second style of play instead of treating every mission as a conventional platforming level.

During the on-foot sections, the directional pad guides Xander through the stages as he shoots, jumps, ducks, and uses the level layout for protection. Weapons and stronger ammunition can be found during missions, and the Select button cycles through the weapons Xander is carrying.

The motorcycle missions frame the action as time-based vehicular combat. Xander rides through courses while avoiding obstacles and hostile attacks, using a perspective designed to suggest depth on the handheld hardware. These sections emphasize keeping control of the bike as well as attacking targets along the route.

The game’s equipment is drawn from its spy-thriller setting, including the Dart Chrome gun, incendiary grenades, and an Electro-Impulse Motorcycle. Together, the foot missions and bike stages follow Xander’s attempt to disrupt Anarchy 99 before its planned attack can be carried out.

This Game Boy Advance release arrived in North America in late July or early August 2002, with European distribution following in October. It is the Digital Eclipse-developed handheld adaptation of xXx, rather than a version of a separate console release.
