About
Pinky and the Brain: The Master Plan is a 2002 Game Boy Advance action-platformer developed by Warthog and published in Europe by Swing! Entertainment. It adapts the Warner Bros. cartoon duo for a side-scrolling, 2D adventure, with the characters’ familiar ambition—taking over the world—providing the central objective.
Brain’s latest scheme follows a television report about a meteorological station in space. He intends to alter the station and use control of the weather to force the world’s powerful figures to submit, but the written Masterplan is stolen before the operation can begin. Pinky and Brain set out to retrieve its scattered pages from the lab rats Roofus and Doofus, whose escape leaves the plan in pieces.
Play alternates between Pinky and Brain as the pair move through platforming stages. Their contrasting abilities are the basis for the game’s puzzles: Pinky can reach higher places with his jump, while Brain can inflate his head. Obstacles and routes ask the player to use the appropriate mouse’s talent rather than relying on a single all-purpose moveset.
The adventure combines direct-control running, jumping, exploration, and collectible gathering with these character-based challenges. Its locations take the pair from the laboratory into more elaborate settings, including a submarine, a jeep, and outer space, so the pursuit of the missing plan moves well beyond their cage at Acme Labs. Two vehicles are controllable during the game.
The main game comprises 16 levels. Progress also unlocks five bonus games, giving the cartridge activities beyond the story stages. Those bonus games support a Game Link Cable mode for up to four players, while the central platform adventure follows Pinky and Brain’s cooperative chase to restore the Masterplan and resume Brain’s bid for world domination.
Built around short GBA stages and the two mice’s complementary skills, The Master Plan turns the show’s comic partnership into a puzzle-platforming structure. Pinky’s buoyant athleticism and Brain’s more unusual utility make each character a practical part of the route through the game, while the story keeps the stakes deliberately in line with the series’ grandiose, repeatedly thwarted takeover plots.
