About

The Flintstones: BurgerTime in Bedrock is a Game Boy Color action-puzzle game that brings Data East’s BurgerTime formula to Bedrock. Developed by Conspiracy Entertainment, it reached Europe in 2000 through Swing! Entertainment and North America on May 30, 2001 under the Classified Games label. The licensed crossover replaces the original arcade kitchen with Mr. Slate’s Bronto King restaurant, putting familiar Flintstones characters into a prehistoric burger-building shift.

Players can take the role of Fred Flintstone or Barney Rubble. Each stage is a network of ledges, ladders and oversized ingredients positioned above waiting plates. The task is to run across the length of buns, fillings and other burger pieces so that they drop down through the layout and stack into complete meals. Finishing the required burgers clears the stage, while the maze-like arrangement turns a simple objective into a race to choose safe routes and keep moving.

The restaurant is not empty: prehistoric pests patrol the platforms and threaten a life when they catch the active character. Players can evade them, use attacks, and take advantage of special items found during play. Power-ups include effects such as greater speed or temporary invulnerability, while some bonuses call on Dino for help. That mix of falling ingredients, enemies and short-lived aids gives the Game Boy Color adaptation more to manage than its basic cooking premise suggests.

BurgerTime in Bedrock contains 25 levels, with some stages scrolling horizontally as the action spreads beyond a single fixed screen. Cartoon-style Flintstones scenes frame the game’s Bedrock setting, and a password feature lets players resume their progress. The controls center on moving across platforms and climbing ladders, keeping the handheld focus on quick positioning while ingredients and hazards reshape the route below.

The game also supports one or two players. In its versus mode, two Game Boy Color systems can be connected with a Game Link Cable for a competitive contest of burger assembly. As a Flintstones-themed take on BurgerTime, it belongs to the wider line of games built around the 1982 arcade concept, but gives its version a distinct cast, restaurant setting, power-ups and handheld multiplayer option.
