About

Disney's Magical Quest 2 Starring Mickey & Minnie for Game Boy Advance is a 2D platform adventure published by Capcom in 2003 and developed by Klein Computer Entertainment. It reworks Capcom's 1994 Super NES and Sega Genesis game The Great Circus Mystery Starring Mickey & Minnie for Nintendo's handheld, with the updated Magical Quest 2 title used outside Japan. The GBA edition reached Japan in July 2003, Europe in August, and North America in November, continuing a run of Capcom Disney platform games built around costume-based abilities.

Mickey and Minnie set out for a day at the circus, only to find the tents deserted and their friends Donald Duck and Pluto missing. Goofy’s warning sends the pair inside to investigate the strange disappearance. The search carries the chosen hero through six themed areas beyond the circus grounds, including a haunted house, frozen landscape, and jungle, as they pursue the force behind the disturbance and work toward rescuing their friends.

At its foundation, Magical Quest 2 is a side-scrolling platform game of running, jumping, timing landings, and dealing with enemies or obstacles along the route. Mickey and Minnie begin with the same moveset: they can pick up certain objects and foes, then spin and throw them. Either character can be selected for a one-player game, and the choice is visual rather than mechanical, so the adventure and available skills remain the same whichever mouse leads the search.

Costumes supply the game’s main layer of variety. The Sweeper outfit uses a vacuum-like tool to collect suitable enemies and turn them into coins, although its battery supply must be replenished with pickups. The Ranger outfit is built around mobility, letting the character climb walls and use particular ropes, vines, and hanging points. The Cowboy or Cowgirl outfit provides a hobby horse for greater jumping ability and a pop gun for firing corks; that weapon also relies on a replenishable power meter. Knowing which outfit suits a route or obstacle is part of the progression rather than a cosmetic change alone.

The Game Boy Advance version preserves the original game’s two-player cooperative option. With a Game Boy Advance link cable, two players can explore together as Mickey and Minnie, sharing the same platforming journey instead of alternating turns. It also changes the earlier password backup into cartridge saving, a practical handheld adjustment that allows progress to be resumed without recording a code.

As a handheld release, Disney's Magical Quest 2 Starring Mickey & Minnie sits between the original 16-bit game and the wider Magical Quest trilogy. Its Japanese release was titled Disney's Mickey to Minnie no Magical Quest 2, while the earlier Western console editions were known as The Great Circus Mystery Starring Mickey & Minnie. That history explains the changing names: this is the second adventure’s Game Boy Advance remake, distinct from the 2002 GBA remake of the first Magical Quest and from the later Magical Quest 3 starring Mickey and Donald.
